More info on the Kalamazoo tasting?
Its in the planning stages, but my trading partners from Penn will be coming. So likely me, kzoobrew, cpabeer, stormking42, and a few others. I will give details out when we know more.
Thank you. This is the right way to do releases, IMO.
I would have to agree.
Anyone interested in a tasting in Traverse City the night before, my friend (and BA noob) has offered to host at his office. If anyone wants to come, I'll bring a bottle of Hopcat's Rapture, JP LR GR, and one of my RR -ations. We can hit up some of the local joints beforehand if you want. I'm happy to play tour guide. Let me know if you would be interested.
Wait...so is the party in Bellaire or Elk Rapids?
Bellaire as always. Starts at 3pm.
That's what I thought, I wanted to make sure before booking a hotel.
Sounds like they'll also have a brew called "Mmkay" which is made with the final runnings of Aww Jeah, then heavily hopped and lagered. Sweeeeeeet
If anyone in SE Oakland county is going and wants to grab 1 or 2 bottles for me, I'd gladly trade you something. Send me a BM.
Here is an idea I have done before. Rent a vacation 5 or 6 bedroom home for the weekend. The price would average about 50 dollars per night per bedroom/couple. This would save money and give us out of towners a big place to have a tasting. I found several nice homes just minutes from Shorts.
300 cases folks
I'm lining up now for it.
Lining up concerns me though. I don't see how the downtown area of Bellaire can handle the congestion. :/
This is a concern of mine too. Its such a small village.
IF they make the allotment 12 bottles or so there wouldnt really be a need for people to line up.
I think you'll see people lining up just to get a seat inside.
Gotcha. I wasnt even thinking about that as I dont really like to sit around at parties, but yea, getting a table could be a priority to use as a "home base" for a group.
That sounds awesome! I am thinking of coming up....but it will probably be by myself. So I may be looking for another BA to hook up with and carpool along with getting in on a tasting.
We're being as optimistic as possible.
Allocation depending on the turnout--using as much space as possible for customers to feel content--dealing with the fate of the circumstances--it's all part of the game.
Hope to see many of you folks in attendance!
It looks like we are coming up Friday when I get off work and staying somewhere in or around Traverse City. Not sure what we will do, but my girlfriend hasn't been to Right Brain or the JP up there so we may hit them up. We'll be heading to Bellaire Saturday, got one of the last rooms left at All Seasons I think. Should be a good time!
Are you guys still making a Anniversary ale too?
As far as I know, yes
Can I come the night before and just sleep on the stage? I promise not to drool, or pillage the tap wall.
Well I will be southbound from Drummond Island to Muskegon on Saturday so I may have to just stop in and pick up a few bottles. Id love to have a beer at the pub too. So this starts at 3pm at the Pub in Bellaire, right?
look at the date, lol
Yea I meant Saturday April 28th is when I'll be headed through the area.
I'll be stopping in Bellaire after some fishing. Trout opener is that day!
Just booked a room for the night. Looks to be an epic lineup for sure. Not sure why the fuck the image is so small on the forum. All the text is readable in the post preview.
Where'd you book and what was the rate? I stalled and now I've heard it's expensive.
$69 for a room with two beds.
Just found out that the bachelor party for a wedding I'm a part of was moved to the same day, and I'm fucking furious. Trying to talk everyone into having it up there.
I hope so, Short's Anniversary Ale is awesome! Last year it was late April release, I believe.
Is the Bourbon Barrel Sustenance available only at Shorts?
yes, and it's so good.
I'm really looking forward to this event. Looks like I'll be bringing bottles of Aww Jeah, Huma X, Curl, and Anni. Ale home. Aww Jeah and Huma X for sure.
I wonder what Huma X is?
I thought it might be Bourbon Huma, but then why wouldn't they just call it that?
It says right on their site it is a bottle conditioned Huma they made to test for Awwww Jeah.
I wanted to finally visit Shorts in person, but I am not missing DLD. Saddens me.
On another note, who is going to Shorts that may want to trade for some Dark Lord? PM me
If anyone that's going to this event is interested in trading some Awww Jeeeah for some Surly, shoot me a note. I'll have some Surly in mid-May when I return from MN. We can communicate in advance regarding quantities and type of Surly you'd want.
I'd only be interested in doing this trade in-person in the Detroit area.
