I was just at Total Wine Alexandria and they had several cases of Bourbon County Stout, one four-pack per person limit. Apparently the distributor held back a number of cases from November's release.

Alexandria is a suburb of DC, it is NOT in the South Atlantic! Mods, there needs to be consistency on this. Northern VA is distinctly part of the DC metropolitan area, an area that consists of at least 2 states and should not be divided along state lines.

Why did they hold back cases?

No Idea. This one was also 15% abv, while the earlier batch was 14.9%. I heard about 14.2% batches showing up elsewhere back in November, but not this one. Strange.

Are these 2013's, or some more of 2012's that appeared in the area a few weeks back?

They are 2012's. That explains the abv difference, haha.

Virginia is without doubt South Atlantic, I'm sorry.

NoVA is without a doubt a part of metro DC.

Oh, I agree with that. Thing is, DC is pretty southern as well. It's not like some disease. Mid-Atlantic would be just fine with me, but there's all of that history to remember.

NoVA is something that is made up by people that think that their shit smells prettier than that of people from the rest of Virginia. People from the Manassas-Chantilly-Reston area say that they live in "Northern Virginia", but they are no closer to DC than Columbia or Germantown.

The only real difference is that there is more traffic and there are Wegmans stores in the northern part of Virginia, and the only real borders are those of VA, DC, and MD.

Yeah, those guys at the Census Bureau who define MSAs are real elitists.

No one is talking about Manassas, just cities which are literally connected to DC by subway, and (in the current thread) literally bordering DC.

I'm pretty sure that this thread would have been vastly more interesting to people in Maryland and DC than people in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina. Northern Virginia threads really belong in the mid-Atlantic section.

We are just trying to distance ourselves from people with beat up pickup trucks, shot gun racks, confederate flags in the back window and I hate Obama stickers.

I'm no Confederate apologist, but DC turned out with picnic baskets to watch Bull Run from across the way. I know that NoVa is solid blue and that pleases me. I think Washington and Lee has just determined that the Stars and Bars might be a "touch" anachronistic, but both of those guys were solid southerners. Virginia need not shed or feel bad about any piece of her history- that we can learn and move on is the best lesson. Southwest and Southside Virginia are truly beautiful.
