I have some friends working in Harbin and it sounds like they only have two options for beer there, Harbin beer and something else similarly flavorless.

Can anyone recommend a bar or store in or around Harbin that would provide them with some better options?

    Thanks!

Sorry Bro. All I could recommend is go to Beijing for some good imports, or have them shipped. Otherwise, I'm not familiar with Harbin though I've been there once over 15 years ago. I live in the south of China.

When I lived in Beijing I ordered beer from jd.com a few times. Most of the imported German and Dutch beers are pretty bad, but you can find some worthwhile Belgians like Rochefort for OK prices.

It looks like they'll deliver in Harbin too. So maybe that's worth a try.

Slim pickings when you get outside of Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. It's starting to change. To help things along, I bring my local beer to share with people, help them realize beer is much more than light, fizzy, industrial rice lager. They may not like it, but it's a conversation starter and plants a seed in their brain.
