    Hi all,

I've checked a number of threads discussing Jester King and haven't found any answers specific to my questions above, but I've missed them, please indulge me. I am driving first to Aledo, Texas and then shooting to arrive at Jester King on a Sunday right at noon. From other threads, I have discovered I can grub some good pizza there so that's perfect as I'll be with my family and another family and I'm attracted to Jester King as a family-friendly type of place.

As we are traveling as a family, I'd like to find a close by hotel or, even better, a bed and breakfast in the Hill Country. I'd like to spend Sunday in the Hill Country before then heading into Austin for a few days.

So as the title suggests, and places folks would recommend for staying near JK? Anything else worth checking out in the area on a Monday morning (museums, historical sites, etc.)? I do have some LBJ-related things on my list.

LBJ library in Austin is good. The ranch in Johnson City is better.

The pizza and the JK grounds are incredible for families. You'll love it.

I'm not much help with hotels or B&B, sorry.

I'll have to do some research on the ranch. May need to be the other place I visit in that part of the world.

I'm visiting Jester King and Hill Country this weekend from Boston. Interested in good eats and better wineries.

If you're planning on heading into Austin for a few days anyway, I would just stay in a hotel there. It's only 30 minutes to Jester King from downtown Austin.

Skip Stanley's and get some amazing pizza at Pieous further down 290 instead.

You can also hit up Last Stand Brewery which is 1mile further down the road from JK. That same complex also has Revolution Spirits and Argues cidery, but I'm not sure what the tasting situation is.

A little further away, you can find Thristy Planet brewing, east on 290. They'll do a free sampling of their beers, or you can buy a pint and fills.

If you're looking to try something different, Texas Hill Country Olive Co is further west on old fitzhugh (JK road). They grow their own olives and make oils and balsamics. Can't speak to any of the wineries.

Depending on the weather I'd also visit Pedernales Falls of you're up for a quick hike.

Check out the William Chris winery in Hye, TX. It's between Johnson City and Fredericksburg. Also nearby from the Garrison Brother's distillery which may still be offering tours this time of year.

    Cosigned so hard.

I'm not extremely familiar with the area, but if you don't want to stay in Austin I'd imagine there are places to stay in Dripping Springs or Wimberley for a smaller town vibe.

For a Bed & Breakfast I would research The Tipping T. It looks beautiful and I believe it's adjacent to the Jester King property.

So, Pieous is definitely better lately than Stanley's. Get the pastrami.

As far as B&Bs go, I would recommend staying in Wimberley. It is about 30 min away from JK and is definitely a good hill country town to be in.

Along with that, swing by Middleton Brewing, who are doing some solid things as of late.

As others had said, Last Stand and Thirsty Planet are both in the same area. But, neither are actually open on Sundays so you can skip them.

Twisted X is open on Sunday in Dripping Springs. They have a great looking taproom....but their beer is not for all (I don't mind some of it, it is mostly just standard stuff).

Just to give you an idea of locations for all of these places, just go here:

I guess it depends on how far into hill country you want to be or how close to Austin you want to be. I don't think of Jester King as particularly far from Austin and where you plan to stay might be more a function of what you want to do in hill country along with Jester King. If you want to enjoy a little small town vibe before hitting Austin then I'd probably look at Dripping Springs or Johnson City.

@Indytruks138 has stayed at the Tipping T. I think you can literally walk out the door and down to Jester King from the house.

Thanks for all the thoughts and recs. I'm definitely down to check out some of these non-beer-related recs.

Yeah I highly recommend Tipping T, also did a airbnb stay that was about 10 minutes away that was nice. If you drive 8 miles or so past JK on fitzhugh you will get to the TX olive co which is a fun way to spend an our two. I'd skip the winery right near there, mediocre wine at best.

Pedernales Falls state park is just 15 miles west of JK. Plenty of great scenery with only a short hike.

Pieous is heavenly. Pastrami, salad, a pie, and a desert are all musts. Do it for lunch so you don't miss out (they sell out on weekends). Otherwise it looks like everyone else has chimed in with great recco's.
