Heading up there for a wedding this Friday from NJ, taking the parkway all the way up from central NJ.

any recommendations for the area? Won't have much time to stray too far.

The only things i have seen on the way are Defiant or Gentle Giant, worth a stop?

    Growler and Gil?

Ambulance Brewhouse or Growler and Gill in Nanuet. District 96 is about a 5 minute drive from there north on route 304. Not a fan of Defiant...never been to Gentle giant

Not cans per se, but crowlers of anything on tap.

Second Growler and Gill. Also Cable Beverages or Craft 303 for to-go's.

District 96 and Ambulance Brewhouse are the stops for sure.

Also -- make time for Rockland Bakery. It's well worth it.

awesome thanks all. Does district 96 have food at the brewery or do you go to the burger joint they own?

Go to District 96, great place. I had a crowler I didn’t open for almost 2 weeks, and it tasted like it was just poured when I opened it.

Beware the District 96 flight. I swear it was 4 half glasses. Burger was pretty tasty, too.

The flights are either 5.5 or 6 oz pours. I can't remember exactly, but it's a lot of beer. Their flight sets look really nice too.

+1 the recommendation on Burger Loft/District 96. Love love love that place.

Cable Beverage is right down the road from District 96 and worth the visit. They're my old bottle shop before I moved.

Growler and Gill is a bit further down the road still and are pretty decent. They're more of a gastropub, so they run a bit pricey. It's a nice place to drink and hang out. IMO Cable is a better spot to buy beer to go (better prices) and Ambulance is a better spot to drink (usually better taplist), but at least you can do both at G and G.

Defiant isn't worth the stop IMO. Gentle Giant's barbeque is pretty good considering we're in NY, and the beer is kinda eh. I stopped going there based on the owner though.

Looking like we are going to do Burger Loft/Distrcit 96 tomorrow around noon for lunch..I assume we can get crowlers to go at that time? Couldnt tell from the website.

Cable is on the way to the hotel, and Ambulance is close as well so hoping to make them stops if time permits. Really appreciate everyones help

    any recommendations at district 96?

Yeah, they can do crowlers at any time. I'm actually going to be there with my son meeting my parents for lunch tomorrow at around the same time as you and plan to get several crowlers filled.

Most of their taplist is haze FYI. You really can't go wrong with any of it, so I'm not sure how deep you want to go between pacing and the heat. I really enjoyed second term and mother of all gills. That's their anniversary beer and a collab they did with growler and gill.

The lime sour they have on now was really nice. Really tart if you're into that. Their amerikanish kolsch is also pretty good especially considering how hot it's been lately.

perfect thank you. How is muffin top? A buddy requested I bring that home but i am worried about it being too sweet for this heat

It's a blonde ale, so it's not too sweet at all. The fruit is there, but it's pretty subtle from what I remember. Also, I'm pretty sure it kicked already. :slight_frown:

Go to ambulance if you can. Always an amazing and varied taplist with a dedicated Hill Farmstead line. Great vibes, outdoor seating.

Growler and Gill was always nice but I just stopped going there once Ambulance showed up.

District 96 is great too. Simple food but good quality. And Rockland bakery rye, challah, canolies...so good.

    Have a great time!

the other option is to skip Disctict 96 and do ambulance for lunch and make a stop at cable beverage

Follow District 96 on IG and see if what they have is worth your trip. Industrial Arts is only about a 20-minute car ride away if you’re feeling frisky. I love their beer, I’ve always wanted to go there.

You're not missing a whole lot. Just about all of their stuff gets distro, and the brewery only releases are pretty few and far between. I always used to get my IA fix at Cable since they charge less per can than what the brewery charges.
