2016 vs. 2017 Founders KBS 2017 Rich, robust and smooth. A little boozier than I remember, but it does not detract. Creamy coffee flavors and mellow, quality bourbon. Like a boozy coffee brownie. Herbal, peppery finish. 2016 More vibrant nose - less coffee, more dark fruit. Palate unfolds similarly, with some Belgian style dark fruit and spice at the fore. There's grape, vanilla and only faint touches chocolate and coffee. Cherry and oak. Strangely, these mirror my tasting notes for 2016 KBS from ten months ago. So maybe the discrepancy is due less to age than batch variation? Either way, I prefer the sexy, subtle sophistication of 2016.
