Sounds like a good business plan, much better than opening another Michigan brewery making the usual Stouts and IPAs. India is a vast country with an incredibly varied cuisine. A solid, food friendly wheat beer should do well especially with regional variations.

And there are not a lot of craft beer options in India (at least there were not in the bigger cities I visited throughout the 2000s - last visit in 2012).

Not to nit pick, but the article caption says "second location" while the article itself mentions that they already have two locations, Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

Anyway, I've always enjoyed their beers and vibe. If I were thinking outside the box about a developing market, India would be crossing my mind. Best of luck to ABC.

Thanks for reading and taking a moment to comment. I'll think about adjusting the snippet, although I think with the headline it's fairly clear that ABC is opening it's second location in India. They'll soon have facilities in Bangalore and Goa.

I was in Chennai this August and I can verify this. Mostly just average lagers available. Seeing a stout on a menu at our hotel got me momentarily excited, only to be told they didn't have it anymore.

I've had a few Indian beers, but most have just been OK. At one time I sold Kingfisher that was actually brewed in England. I don't think that's true now. The climate in India surely makes for a thirsty populace, and I wish ABC well in this venture. Does anyone know if Lion Stout from nearby Sri Lanka (Ceylon) is popular in India? I remember Lion Stout as being quite good.

This is an interesting question which you might ask in the appropriate international forum as we are much more likely to see you getting more and more informed responses there.
