Arcadia will be releasing a barrel aged (for 22 months) supply of Cereal Killer Barleywine Ale. It's the first release of barrel aged Cereal Killer since its Gold Medal win at the 2009 GABF.
    • Barrel Aged Cereal Killer (10% ABV): A 22 month aged barleywine, brewed in English-style tradition, full-bodied with robust malty flavors like caramel, toffee, molasses and dark fruit notes, subtle citrus finish from the hops. Cellar-aging evolves the flavor into a sherry-like aroma, available in 12 oz. bottles. IBUs: 60
Arcadia is also releasing a barrel aged (for 22 mo) Imperial Stout for the first time ever.
    • Barrel Aged Imperial Stout (9.5% ABV): A 22 month aged Imperial Stout with a rich mouth feel, aroma consists of dark roasted malts and blackstrap molasses with a hint of smoke, flavor notes of coffee, bittersweet cocoa, black licorice and hints of prune. A generous addition of hops provides complexity and an astringent finish. Available in 12 oz. bottles. IBUs: 82
Projected time frame for these releases is between November and December. Both will be in very short supply.

Seemed like there was a ton of Shipwreck, no? Why such a small amount of these? Shipwreck is one of my top 5 fav beers ever. Stoked beyond belief for Cereal Killer is in that list as well.

I'm surprised on how high the IBU's are on something that's been aged for 22 months.

I'm pretty sure that the place that's a 5 minute walk from my house still has the Shipwreck. I had no problems finding it. I'm hoping it's the same here.

I'm not a big Barleywine fan, but I do remember accidentally picking up a CK and it being pretty decent, so I'll probably pick up a bottle of this if I can find it. I'm far more excited about the Imperial Stout being barrel aged.

Which is actually weird, because the IBUs are different on the labels, and not what the reports IBUs are for the beers themselves.

Yes, ABV and IBU do not reflect the correct information on those labels.

You should grab some Shipwreck for me! I'd gladly return the favor however I can. What is this place you speak of? I've been occasionally dropping 12$ for one at Hopcat -__-

For this batch they did? I know they used them 3 years ago for the gold medal winner, but after that I thought it was HH barrels. I could very well be wrong though.

Well they could have used both, maybe thats why they didn't post anything about the barrels they used. But from what I was told by the Arcadia guy at Hoptoberfest thats what they used.

I was told by one of the reps that they have 900 cases of Cereal Killer and are just waiting on label approval. He also mentioned the case number on the Imperial Stout, but I don't remember what that was.
