Are you exhausted with the constant hype?

    I think we all can share in the feeling that we are sad when a majority of people like a style that we don't like. In music I love classical, and find it sad there is no widespread appreciation and popularity. OTOH there is so much classical music available as things are that I won't be able to listen to more than a fraction of it while I'm alive. So any sadness I feel that it isn't more popular is more an expression of my arrogance and greed than an expression of a problem of music available to me. I believe this also is the situation of craft beer.

    Yes, I’m exhausted by it. At the end of the day we as the consumer end up with less choice. Beer is harder to get, costs more and may not be as good. I mean, breweries that produce great beers generating hype for a seasonal or rotating release because the can’t/ don’t meet demand is one thing but hype for the sake of hype is another.

    What we know as beer now started as mixtures of sugar sources...milk, fruits, honey, and cereal grains.

    The role of yeast was completely unknown to brewers until Louis Pasteur, coupled with the lack of a sanitary environment, produced soured and infected beer every time.

    Until the invention of the drum kiln, barley was malted over open fire and therefore took on smoke character.

    Thus without innovations and progress, youd be drinking my description.

    Red Oak charges $10/6 pk, so it follows a 12 pk is $20 they don’t discount for a bigger buy. They're seasonal out right now is 1516 Heller Bock, and it’s around $12/ 4 pk, 16 oz cans, that format is new. So $3 a can for a really good brew is hard to complain about. They don’t put in the hops like the big DIPAS do, but they put in time. So what’s time worth if they’re cold aging it for 9 weeks? All their beers are cold aged most 4-6 weeks, and as mentioned above 9, time and space is money and if you’ve seen their brewing area you be amazed by the configurations of the various tanks.

    Ha, ha... Yeah, that's one way to look at it, I guess, and I sorta hoped that was your point but these days (of de-evolution*?) you never can tell.

    * Well, using some of those items for flavor additives if not always for additional source(s) of fermentables.
