    Back in October we had a trade go through. He took a little longer to ship but still shipped with everything agreed upon. I was eager to build a long term east coast relationship so I probed and he was down for that too. I sent him a box from breweries he wanted (~$80 Casey and Weldwerks) and in return he was supposed to send hops. Well he ended up ghosting and hasn't logged into the account since.

    I have a suspicion that he may be using a different screen name. I don't want to be wrong and call that other account out but can an administrator please contact me to see if the two have used the same ip addresses? I know it's not a fail safe method but it's a start.

    Did you get his cell #, have you tried texting him. If you don't have it, try getting it from one of his previous trading partners.

    He hasn't been on in 17 weeks, zero chance he will appear here.

    I don't have a cell phone but his information does match what he gave another trade partner back in October. I pretty much chalked this up as a loss until I saw another user that raised my suspicion.

    @scubastza did an in person trade with him, he must have his cell number.

    Don't let this guy off the hook, try to text him and see what happens.

    As he hasn't logged in in 17 weeks, the IP data and any subsequent matching will be less accurate.

    This is intriguing, @eriko311, why do you think he has a second account? Does he trade with the second account and use the same name and address? Or is it from following his posts that raised a suspicion?

    There is another account that uses an eerily similar profile pic. I'm pretty sure the pictures were taken within minutes of each other. That is why I wanted to check IP addresses

    Not to disparage the possibility that the bad trader in question has created another account - but his profile pic does look like it is from Hill farmstead and many people have their profile pic from there in similar fashion.

    By chance is this potential second account created in the last 17 weeks, the amount of time he has not logged in? And is the account also claiming to be located in Maine?

    @jheimbigner I did entertain the possibility that they were taken at a location that would be frequented by other members of this forum and that is why I did not name the other account. The other account was opened before loanstar, however, it is based out of the same state that I shipped my packages to.

    Unfortunately I never got his cell number. My experience was honestly super smooth with great communication so sadly I don't think I can help out here. Sorry to hear about the bad trade tho. Sucks.

    @eriko311

    The real question...did you use the *feedback system* when setting up this trade? And because he has no *negative* feedback...my trader senses say no

    Not that it matters at this point, but by not using it at the initial trade...you basically gave the trader a * free pass* to steal your beer without any consequences. Not that thieves are not gonna steal no matter what, but if they wanted to uphold their feedback, they would be more obliged to fulfill their end to uphold their reputation if the feedback system was used.

    Also..why wait 5+ months to out the trader? Seems *extensively long* in my book.

    @dmbforever

    I did use the feedback system on the initial trade and left good feedback. Figured there's no point in changing my positive feedback to negative since it's obvious he's not concerned with his account. Also, bottles were much bigger on first run and he shipped after he received my shipment so I figured the risk was minimal on the second shipment. Bad call.

    Calling him out after 5 months because I thought I recognized his profile pic posting trade offers but it was a different account. The picture is why I asked admins for help on the verifying IP addresses but that didnt happen.

    I get the feeling you're calling me out now for posting about a bad trader?

    Not calling you out on anything. Simply stating: you ( and anyone else reading this) should ALWAYS use the feedback system on EVERY trade. Unless it's someone you know personally (and even then it's a gut call)....just stating my personal experience from trading and moderating these *bad trader* threads.

    Second..not much we can do on any situation, if it isn't brought to the attention sooner than 5+ months later.

    Remember...Im on your side :wink:, until proven differently.

    Cheers!

    I appreciate it. When I was sure this deal had gone south it had been about 6 weeks and he hadn't logged on in as much time so I figured there was nothing you could do back then, either. What got my hopes up was seeing the other account.

    Thanks for the help and I'll be sure to be more cautious in the future.

    @Vivified

    Like, I've been really thinking it over, and like...I've got to admit. You are right!!!

    Time is irrelevant in these bad trader threads. So I'll take your wisdom and close this down. Re-open in 5+ months? Maybe a year later? Then apply the bad trader tag? Until then....

    Cheers!
