Just saw the Ballast Point Sculpin Variety 12 Pack at my local BevMo.

4x Original, Grapefruit, Pineapple. All for the low low price of....

    $33.

First time I saw a 12 pack that costs $33...wow!

Personally, I'm completely willing to pretend the habanero never existed, but that's me.

Seems in line with 6-pack prices ($15/6-pack). What's the problem?

I think the original is very good and the grapefruit is even better, but they need to get over themselves and find a price point closer to the rest of the world if they want to stay relevant. The one thing I always notice when I look at the beer cooler is the shortage of IPA's to choose from.

    Amen. $33 for a 12-pack is ridiculous.

Haven't seen the 12 pack, but recently tried the Pineapple Sculpin and did not find it very enjoyable. Grapefruit is easily the best. They're all a bit overrated imho though.

I really do like Sculpin, but I never buy it in 6 packs or 12 packs. It doesn't make financial sense when there's a SN Torpedo or Beer Camp 12 pack right next to the Sculpin for 12.99. I'll drink my Grapefruit Sculpin at a bar or restaurant if it's available.

    Ouch. that is expensive.

Dark horse does a mixed 12 pack of IPAs each year (a special variant thing) and it is priced pretty high too. ~$25 from memory, and it turds for a while at least near me.

If I want variety, I'll go to the pick and mix section and get 6 different beers I haven't had before for $10. A 12 pack needs to be quite a bit cheaper to get me interested in trying their beer...

Likewise. It is usually the same price or only $1 more in bars compared to other IPA's. It might help if I liked Sculpin though... It is nice, but no better than many other options that are a lot cheaper. Hell, in a bar if Sculpin is $1 more, I will usually order something else on principle.

I'd actually like a mixed 6, with 2 bottles of each of them. I bought a sixer of Pineapple Sculpin yesterday because I like Scuplin and I love pineapple. I had a bottle last night, and it was fine - didn't blow my mind. As I was drinking it, I thought it'd be nice if I didn't have 5 more of them, but instead a couple Grapefruit and a couple regular.

The price point is on par with what I typically see here in Baltimore.

I do wish they had added Habanero to the mix as well though..

Absolutely insane! I enjoy sculpin, but man, so much more quality-including IPAs-can be had by that amount.

Well..... its in line....but usually 12 packs offer a little discount over 6'ers...I think the comment below was more like my reaction when I saw it in the store:

I have some cans of Grapefruit Sculpin in my fridge right now. Always fantastic, but it can be tough to pick up sometimes at the store when I see other comparable brews running for slightly cheaper.

They definitely need to work on their pricing. With prices like that, they'll never be able to sell that company for any real money.:astonished: They clearly don't know what they're doing.

Constellation Brands has to get that Billion back. LOL
Would much rather have a sixer of Grunion @ $9.99 if they could find away to get some fresh sixers on the shelf. IMO

They must be trying to pay off the debt incurred in the acquisition. I like regular and grapefruit Sculpin but I wouldn't pay that price.

I suppose so. I saw Sucaba on the shelf this week at $24.99 but didn't feel the need to start complaining to the world. Would I buy a 12-pack of Sculpin for $33? No, and from other posts it seems like the store had some above MSRP (like the Sucaba above).

Anyway, the "Sculpin is overpriced" horse has been beaten to death.

Just paid $26. I feel ok with that. It's all about a month old. It just kept calling my name and pineapple , well that was the real hook.

Grunion was $14 when I first saw it not its $10.99 and cases are $40.

    Enjoy

I've always loved Sculpin and grapefruit sculpis spot on. Haven't had the pineapple. Still, the one thing that has always kept me from buying it more often was the price.

When I lived in San Diego I opted for the growlers. Much fresher, better, and cheaper. I won't be picking up this 12, if only because I can't drink a 12 of big IPA's fast enough. They'd be in the fridge for months and months.
