I am picking up a friend at BWI and I have a bunch of time to kill. Is there a brewery that offers a tour on a Friday?

Starting the trip from Harrisburg. So anything between Harrisburg and Baltimore is fair game.

Troegs in Hershey (formerly Harrisburg). Check out their new brewery. You will not be disappointed .

Definitely Troeg's. The tour is self-guided (with signs on the wall detailing the brewing process, and their new tasting room is pretty sweet) unless you schedule a group. Heavy Seas only does them on Saturdays, which is probably the case for most breweries. I think I've read on here that Flying Dog no longer does tours.

IMO, the only thing of value from a tour is interesting stories about a brewery since tanks, lauter tuns, bottling lines...are all pretty much the same. I would just hit up Max's or Alewife, unless your goal in the tour is to do something beer related without drinking anything.

Flying Dog has tours on Thursday and Friday at 1600 and 1830. It costs $5, lasts 2 hrs, you get a pint glass, and their 'tastings' (5) are generous. Plus, a stop at Brewer's Alley for lunch/dinner is a good bet too.

Bit of a hike to get to from BWI, but he did say that he had A BUNCH of time to kill. :-)
