I appologize for the hi jacking but I will be in the Bay Area in a few weeks also. Does Rare Barrel regularly carry bottles? Thanks in advance.

Another question would be in terms of location: staying in SoMa/Financial District or Fishermans Wharf. I know everything is pretty accessible via Bart and MUNI but was just curious on where to stay.

FYI we were in Fishermans Whart and getting to all the bars and Cellarmaker was just a $10 Uber most everywhere, to go across to Rare Barrel was about $20. Rare Barrel does not regularly have bottles, just for releases.

Yeah I've stayed in FW a few times but I really haven't ever stayed over in the SoMa area. That's good to know.

You'll have easier access to public trans in SOMA, including BART which will take you to RB, which is on and off with bottles...you'll just have to keep an eye on their social media to see if a bottle is available. You'll also smell more pee and see more crackheads in SOMA, but they're mostly harmless.

A similar-ish question - I've got a day in Marin coming up, with time for a single brewery tour/visit. Which of the places in Marin or southern Sonoma counties would people recommend as the best experience?

Marin Brewing Co is a great spot if you're looking to maximize your drinking time (versus driving up to Lagunitas, RR, etc.).

I would go with Iron Springs in Fairfax.

mmhmm, best brewer in the county IMO. I'm not aware of any tours done in Marin (not really my thing anyway) but you won't be disappointed at Iron Springs especially if you like hoppy beers.

I would also throw out the underrated Mill Valley Beerworks who have expanded their operation and in-house offerings, have a good guest tap list and very good food. Only open after 5:00pm on weekdays, but all day on weekends. They definitely have a tour at Lagunitas, which is supposed to be good. I think you sign up online or call to get a spot.
