If we can win, anyone can. This seriously NEVER happens to us. Basically the complete opposite.
One of my friends won on the second round today....so its true!
Buddy of mine got his email at 6:42 CT hoping to be a mule
So this was probably already mentioned but I don't want to read 21 pages of what is likely a combination of gloating, moaning, and bickering; so can someone answer a quick question for me? Will "Rare Day" be the only way to purchase this beer. The initial release information says "the first bottles" and by saying that implies that this will not be the only way to get Rare bottles. Anyone know anything else about this? Interesting also that the official website specifies Prop is chicago area only but doesn't say this for Rare.
I won 2nd round, but my name is already on a guest ticket from a friend that won first round. I'm on hold right now with the 800 number provided to figure out how to rectify this.
My local bottle shop that usually gets a healthy supply of bcbs was told he will be getting rare this year.
Everything you've written has answered your own questions. You have it all right my man! Not the only place to get Rare. Prop is Chicago only.
Thank you both. That is very good news! Gonna be a mad house trying to get it at a bottle shop, but maybe luck will be on my side!
Rare Day here I come! Got picked on the re-draw today. Super pumped, until the old lady figures out how much we're spending on 6 bottles of beer.
I was wondering what would happen in this situation. Did they make any changes for you?
Brother got picked in the re-draw and I am going with him! It sounds like a lot of people didn't purchase tickets from the first drawing, good for us!
Wonder how much of that was due to so many of recipients receiving their notification in their spam/junk folder.
"Grandma, check your Spam folder"
"Huh, ham folder?"
"No, check your Spam folder in your email"
"Why would I have ham in my email?"
"No, look on the left side for a folder named Spam"
"Oh, sorry I can't see anything now. Can I check again tomorrow? What did you sign me up for?"
"It's for a beer lottery"
"A beer lottery? What is that?"
"If you win the lottery you can purchase a limited beer"
"Can't you just purchase the beer at the store?"
"Not this beer. Well not yet anyway"
"Oh. I've never heard of that. It must be good."
"Well, no one knows yet. We usually purchase the beer before we try it."
"Oh. Ok, well call me back tomorrow and I'll look again."
Got my 2nd chance ticket!! Hell yes baby!! See yall in the Windy City!
Got my 2nd chance ticket as well. They mention "it was a VERY select few" that won second chance. Mine came in @ 6:12 as well and went to Spam like most others (confirmations came through regular inbox).
Let us know the outcome of that call just in case anyone has a similar experience
Damn, I was hoping to get lucky on the second round. I was most excited for the pours of Prop and all of the other variants as I won't be able to go to Chicago for the release.
Oh well, congrats to all of the winners (of which there seem to be many in the second round).
I was lucky enough to score on the second round! Mine also came at 6:12 and I got it straight to my inbox, not spam folder. Can't believe the day I'm having.
So here is a dumb question... it looks like bottles are picked up at the Fulton location and then they have shuttles over to the Sacramento location. Are they expecting everyone to carry around 3 bottles of rare plus the swag they give us at the barrel facility? This seems silly to me and is going to add a wrinkle to plans if so. Anyone have any thoughts?
Bring a backpack and throw everything in there.
Your grandma sounds like a super swell lady
Aren't these bottles coming in boxes?
don't forget the limited edition tote bag.
And snifter, which breaks if you touch it the wrong way. Wah, too much good stuff to carry
Yea I have a thought, it involves me waiting in a dark alley between the Fulton and Sacramento locations...
I know the city really well, need a get away driver ?
I have a feeling GI is going to take care of this issue when they give more details
Does anyone know if there is parking there??
There are already 5 people there, if you leave now you can be 10th in line...
So, I'm guessing we have to conceal carry now.
I'm in the 11am sessiin. Going as a guest, driving from GR. Just wondering if there is parking on site or if I should use spot hero?
They're supposed to call me back Monday morning to let me know how to handle this, but I was advised to purchase my tickets on Friday evening, and add my guests name. I'm assuming they'll correct this at that point.
They say parking at the barrel warehouse is limited so I would think you need to park close to the Fulton location and then take a shuttle over to the barrel warehouse. It is Chicago so I would guess parking anywhere is limited so you might need to find a parking garage.
I understand there will be Rare in the Charleston area on Black Friday.
I believe its all been allocated to Skull Tavern.
plenty of free street parking by the taproom on fulton. As long as you obey the street signs, you'll be good. i was there for the 312 block party a month ago and i was just fine.
I'm looking into hotels and transportation for this event. I'm from Ohio and have only been to Chicago once before. I'd appreciate it if a local person would be able to PM me to answer a couple questions.
If any local has any suggestions on reasonably priced hotels near by please message me.
