I'm a +1 and didn't get anything, even though my friend had to put in my email. His tickets have my name on them, and that appears to be all we'll need as we'll be together.

If I bring beers to trade in a backpack, will those beers be allowed in the backpack inside the event?

It says backpacks will be checked, so doubtful since there's no bottle sharing, etc.

Also, lots of people hesitate at spending $150-200 for a bottle of wine or bourbon. The vast majority of people, I would think.

EDIT: I see @westlaunboy beat me to this very sentiment.

I'm SOL. My buddy has his name as both the winner and the guest. He called Customer Service to explain the mix up. They refuse to change the ticket and won't allow me in.

I have the same issue. They would not even discuss trying to remedy the situation at all.

I had a much different experience. I had to switch the name I originally put on my request and found it to be a very easy process of calling Customer Service and supplying new credentials. It took a day or two, but it was done...so it may be worth revisiting for those who were supposed to appear on a ticket...

A friend if a friend had their guest ticket name changed early on in this whole thing and had a very different experience than both of you guys. They changed the name on the ticket for him and then when Goose found out, they overrode the change, cancelled both tickets and refunded the purchaser. I'm guessing after that incident they aren't doing any name changes

When did you have this done? I am the original purchaser, but my name appears on my ticket twice. I didn't realize I screwed up until we got the info email on Tuesday, but didn't see it until Wednesday and they were closed for Veterans Day. When I called today I was told no dice.

I'm glad GI is adhering to the ticket policy. People should not have purchased 2 tickets if they didn't know who was going with them. It just opens it up for abuse (i.e, sure I'll sell you my +1 for $$$, what's your name?).

I agree, but people's situations also change. My friend that is going with me has kids, and his wife is now sick. He said he's still going, but what if he couldn't go? Then I'm out of an extra $40 (I paid for him) because I can't take someone else instead, and those bottles of Rare don't get purchased, because I doubt they'd let me purchase all 6. I know each situation is different, but you can see there are some situations that are legit.

    They will refund.

Personal situations don't matter. This is an extremely important event and regardless of changing situations, there are no substitutions. Very exclusive and they just can't make exceptions.

I went the process sometime end of October, I believe. I spoke with a CS rep who ran it up the flagpole and I was granted the ability to switch the name to my sister. I actually expected push back on it and never received any. Very smooth process to accomplish.

There are legit situations. But, anyone can claim those situations if they allowed changes. People are shits.

I'm glad to see places move to this hard line. Especially for an event where people are practically offering kidneys to go.

Trust me, I agree. And the reason they have to take a hard line is because most people are assholes and will try to game the system however they can. My point was that there are, in fact, legitimate reasons for wanting to change something, especially if someone above mentioned putting his name on both tickets, that he should be able to change that.

But I understand both sides of the equation, and overall it's in the best interest of GI to stand firm on most situations.

Yeah, I know. And they should fix their error... but there are probably also people who intentionally didn't give a second name with the intention of changing the name after some sale or trade.

Again, people suck and make this type of stuff more complicated.

This ticket policy is something GI can control. Someone doing something with their allotted 3 bottles after the event is out of GI's control. Well, I suppose they could just make the event onsite consumption only. But short of this there is little GI can do regarding those scenarios unfortunately.

for the record, i had an easier time getting into the white house for a meeting with the president during the second gulf war than some of you people are having getting into a tap room to buy 3 bottles of beer.

Let's be honest, the whole concept of having to provide a name for a guest is stupid. It doesn't stop people from buying/selling/trading the tickets. I agree with having the person who entered the raffle being required to be the name of one ticket. However, the guest ticket should be a blank ticket that can be used for anyone.

The concept of using this method to control the "trade value" is dumb. People will just bring a family member who doesn't want to be there and won't enjoy the awesome event to mule back 3 extra bottles. Than these people will have Rare x 6 and just jack up trade value of the bottles since the supply is in fewer peoples hands. I'd rather have the tickets be traded to people who actually want to be there to enjoy the beer on tap and the party and it will also spread the bottles out to more beer enthusiast.

Does anyone else's guest's first name appear in the "name" filed and their last name appear in the "email" field? Pretty confident i entered everything correctly at registration, wondering if this is an output issue?

At the end of the day, it's got my first and last name and his first and last name, so I don't see it being an issue. Just thought I'd see if others' came that way.

While it hasn't totally eliminated the practice, having to provide a guest name is not at all stupid, and I'd imagine it has massively lessened the buying/selling/trading of tickets, because you had to have those details worked out when you purchased. It's not impossible to do that, but it's at least more difficult.
