Thanks for the mention Even (Egad Bananas)! Just a heads up on some of the great things we have going on over here on the Northshore at the Old Rail! Our Belgian Blonde made its return this week and look to have new releases coming up in the coming days and weeks.... Look for our Terrapin Beer Co. Collaboration to hit the tap next week... Spike and I put this together for the Terrapin release last month and came up with a Louisiana Blood Orange Black IPA. Look for a light roast and deep dark color, big...pleasant floral and fruity hop aroma from loads...LOADS of Falconers, Zythos, and Cascade hops, smooth and malty with a orange zest character in the finish. Our Traditional Bock hits this March with a second release of our RIS and Bourbon Barrel aged RIS to make their return soon! Our one year anniversary in July will see the release of our Barleywine.... Currently aging and set to hit an age of 9 months come July...also have this in a Jack Daniels Barrel as well.

Hope to see yall at the pub!

    Cheers! - Matt

At the end of March, my wife and I are visiting New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette for the first time. Great information on this thread.

going out to NOLA in June for a friend's bachelor party, great info in this thread. if i'm driving in from Florida, is Acquistapace's worth the drive across the lake? i've read a lot of good things about them, but can't seem to find what they carry.

Acquistapaces is good, but you're not going to find anything you can't get in NOLA. Prices might be slightly cheaper than places like Stein's, but I wouldn't make the drive just to go there. However, if you do head across the lake, check out Old Rail or the Chimes (very close to acquistapaces) for a great bite to eat and solid beer. Also, chafunkta in Mandeville just started doing tours on Friday evenings

I live in Covington and Aquistapace is a savior!

Old Rail is an amazing night out and I highly recommend the Cow Catcher Milk Stout

The Barley Oak gets my vote as well, sit on the lake front and sip some suds, great selection

Covington Tap Room has amazing food, good beers on tap and live music

Chimes is great too, can be crowded and loud, but chances are they have what your looking for, don't forget to visit the goats!

Heading down to NOLA for JazzFest on Thursday; any information on beer availability inside the festival grounds? Hoping it's not too macro-focused.

Heading to New Orleans for a few days on Friday. Not to threadjack, but can anyone tell me any dinner spots that are an absolute must for amazing local food? First time in the south and beyond excited to sample the local fare. Good beer selection would be a huge plus!

    For dinner:
    Boucherie
    Cochon
    Peche
    August
    Coquette
    Sylvain

I think all of those have fantastic food and solid beer selections. Are you eating lunch too? Nola has a lot of casual food treasures.

25 cent martinis?!? Truly hate the fact that I live in a state that outlaws happy hours.

I had Atchafalaya last Sunday and it was so legit good! I'd recommend a reservation if you go that route.

Was there about a year ago. Two lunch places we really liked were Cochon Butcher, and Killer Poboy. The Butcher was basically a deli with sandwiches and some beer and such. Really good. Killer Poboy was tucked in the back of some awesome divey Irish bar called Erin Rose just off of Bourbon. It was a trip, never experienced something like that before. Food was great. NO has a lot of good beer on tap in general. As a visitor, I was very pleased to be able to stop into any random bar and find a good beer I'd never had before. It's a great town.

Oh, and a visit to NOLA is a must. Show up during the 30 minute window, buy a glass for $5 and go ahead and pour your own beer while you are at it. Stupid fun, and the beer is very good.

You should really add Dorignac's to your list of bottle shops in Metairie. They have an extensive selection of bottles. In some ways they surpass even Wholefoods and Martins. Since it is literally about a three minute walk from Martins, there is no reason not to stop there. The only downside is most of the beer is room temperature but so is Martin's wine cellar...

I'm visiting New Orleans this Saturday. I plan on going to Stein's Deli for some packaged goods. Is this a safe area? I'll be going there for lunch as well.

Yes, Stein's is in a very safe area. It will be very crowded during lunch, but the food is great and beer selection even better.
