I ignored it for the most part this week. Walked around Benson on Thursday but that was about it.

Yea OBW was okay for me this year (really my only year, besides last year CBS and Odel events), can I complain about having new/rarer beers that I can't typically get easily in Omaha, no. For me personally having so many events happen in one week, still means I am going to make it to probably only one a day. Totally understand other folks can hit up multiple stops per day, but I would love to see more of the events spread out over months vs days, that way I know I would be able to hit more up. Different strokes I guess for me!

I'll be there when it arrives because I'll be following the truck.

I could do with or without OBW. I grabbed leftovers from two events (Geuze Tilquin at the Moon and Flor D'Lees at Brix) and I only attended 1 actual event which was the Omaha Extreme Beerfest. Maybe I'm getting old but I was reminded why I haven't attended a Beerfest in about 3 years. Bottle shares with friends are better than beer fests most of the time!

That being said, The Ralston Arena was a perfect venue for Extreme Beerfest. Not sure if I will continue to go but it finally felt roomy enough for the crowd.

One of the nice things about having multiple events in a day is that most people can't attend them all. If the events were spread out the attendance would be higher, possibly much higher. Overall, I think beer week is great for promoting craft beer to people who aren't waist deep in it like most of us.
The overall solution is a good mix of all of the above:
Daily places you can stop and get a good selection of craft beer. (Moon, Krug, etc..., Beertopia, Hyvee's)
Weekly events/specials (Pint Nights, standard lineup tap takeovers, etc)
Monthly (Rare beer tappings & takeovers, etc)
Quarterly big events (Extreme, Benson, Great Nebraska Beerfests, etc)
How would you rate availability of Omaha events in the above categories? I think we do well on most of them, but are slacking in the Monthly events. Certainly some of those could be made up of events that were done during OBW, but I don't think we need to give up OBW to make it happen.

Anyone try Infusion's Nelson Galaxy? Was gonna grab a pint there on Friday afternoon until I found out that Bill Clinton was giving a speech across the street and parking would be nonexistent.

Also, saw that Stony Brook posted a picture of the Avery logo and said "coming soon". Anything concrete from them or even Firestone yet?

Avery will be here 3/21 for sure, and I believe Firestone by the end of April.

Nelson Galaxy was really really good. I got tons of melon and orangey flavors from it. Apparently the keg blew sometime yesterday though. It was just a pilot batch so they only made 20ish gallons of it. I think Aaron said they might have another 5 gal keg of it, but dunno if they'll put it on right away or not. He also said they'd keep making it if they can get Nelson and Galaxy with any regularity (fingers crossed).

How often does this show up in Omaha? Sounds interesting, mostly because it is from Ord, and I used to work there. I have an itch for Scratchtown.

A couple of us are planning to have a bottle share while in line for the Holy Name fish fry this Friday (3/18). We will try to get in line about 6pm. We would love to have others join us! Just bring a few bottles to share. I will bring red solo cups. For those that haven't been, this is basically tailgating for an $11 fish fry, its a ton of fun! Hope to see you there! Ask questions here so everyone can benefit from responses.

Seems like CB is always a few days behind DSM when it comes to Johnson Brothers, and I am fairly certain DSM hasn't got Gold yet, so who knows? (def not me)

I surely hope so though. I'm taking the day off to get shit done at home which means they will probably get it just to fuck with me. Happens every time I take a day off (I live in Elkhorn). It is much easier for me to pick stuff up on a work day since I work downtown.

MotB also still had a lot of Hi-Res hiding out in the back at the end of the cooler with some Desthil Hop Overload, Vertex IPA and some Evil Twin cans that look like they haven't been set out.

A new player (Quail) is about to enter the Nebraska beer distribution scene.

Destihl should be next week, and they are hoping for Almanac in June.

As to not get hopes up I won't even mention the STL breweries they talked to us about. :sunglasses:

Also heard some whispers that Bell's and Ballast Point will be here in May/June. I'm taking that as hearsay though until I hear something from a distributor or brewery rep.

should be interesting to see how all this shakes out with so many breweries entering our market in such a short span of time. gotta think some of them are gonna get lost by the wayside. already feeling like the TG thing isn't gonna work out but that is purely speculative on my part.
