I always check out the beer labels in movies and TV. If you can see the label, the brewery paid for it. That's why so many labels are turned away from the camera. I drive my wife crazy with," Look, they're drinking a ____!"
In that Walking Dead episode I mentioned, I did say outloud "Forget the guy! Save THE BEEEEEEER!" My girlfriend looked at me and said, "You're such a dork." My reply. "But, Hon, it was Hopsecutioner."
True enough! But I was only thinking about what I could carry in that situation, no time to put together a case ... and I had to think quick!
I am watching the first season of Hannibal and in one episode, Hannibal Lecter gives another character a beer he brewed in a Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrel.
Just watched Barfly with Mickey Rourke, as noticed the cool Hamm's scenorama (a moving water beer sign) in the background of the opening shot, which also shows some classic bar exteriors too. The funny thing? For being "barflies" they are drinking Kingsbury malt beverage, which is a non-alcoholic beer!
I was watching Ancient Impossible on the H2 in the episode they have a repeating cross bow that has a lever action built by the ancient Chinese. So they wanted to see which had a higher rate of fire the ancient cross bow design or a lever action Winchester. They had Kristen Weiss (coincidence?) shoot at some bottles with the Winchester and check out what her targets where. Idk what the one on the left or in the middle is but the far right bottle is for sure JK Atrial Rubicite.
One on the last is RU-55. Dunno if it's already been mentioned, but I've been rewatching some Walking Dead and have noticed Sweetwater and Terrapin stuff in some episodes.
Randomly watching Chicago Fire and what do I see Dawson carrying? A freaking case of Zombie Dust. Looks like they have the FFF hook-up on set! More like Dawesome. Edit: I should have watched another 2 minutes before posting... She even called it out by name in the show. I feel less in-the-know now. I love recognizing craft during times like that. Any similar stories?
I was watching a Big Bang Theory and in a store they had a Duck Rabbit display. Since the show is supposed to be in CA I cann't imagine DR distributes there.
I watch critically acclaimed shows like "Franklin and Bash" and on the first season, they drank nothing but Founders stuff. Apparently they sold out and now only drink Coors Light on this Season.
Locally-found Sweetwater and Terrapin cases in the first episode of last season's "The Walking Dead."
Not craft news but BMC change. The League was a "Bud and their Ilk" shill in the first seasons. This year it is Miller-Coors.
Always Sunny, had Coors product placement a few seasons back, I just figured it was to defray the cost of Danny Devito's salary ! Nebbie
I remember back in the 70's they used a fictitious red can of beer in tv shows and movies, anyone remember what it was called?
So I've begun re-watching Season 4 of The Walking Dead in preparation for the upcoming season 5 premiere. In the first episode of that season, they are scouting for supplies at a grocery store, when zombies start falling through the ceiling. The store features cases of beer set up in the middle of the store, including Terrapin's Hopsecutioner, Rye Pale Ale, and Sweetwater IPA. Not sure if anyone has made mention of this in 10 pages, but when I saw it just now, this thread came to mind.
There are quite a few fake beer labels used by TV and film crews. Some can be found on these pages from prop companies (sorry if these were posted in previous posts in the 10 page thread, but the website is slow for me this morning and can't seem to access the previous pages): http://www.theearlhayspress.com/id4.html http://issprops.com/graphics/products/category/beer I always remember a blue-instead-of-red, imitation "Bud" can being used in several 70s shows that was similar to Hays co's #BC-27. Pretty sure it was Oscar Madison's favorite brand.
This may have been repeated already but in the third season of walking dead, the governor pulls out cases of terrapin, their IPA I believe.
in "The League" one of the guys is drinking a Peroni, and now some Miller Lite. I guess SABMiller has some sponsorship in this show.
Fat Tire Neon in True Detectives, and why is Matthew McConaughey always drinking Lone Star? It is not evens sold in LA.
Sweetwater brewing company on Walking Dead in multiple cases. Sorry if it was already posted, some I never seen before in the episode with the helicopter on the roof that collapses.
