planning a trip to CA next week...after some surprises / disappointments visiting breweries in other states (only allowed to sell a 2oz sample or only being able to give samples on brew tours, etc...i thought i would ask first this time...

can breweries sell full pours of their beer on site in CA?

    Cheers,

    Drew

Not very many restrictions on beer purchases except for some restrictions on growlers.

Bear Republic poured me a 32 ounce glass of Racer X one night. I think it was a good time... :grinning:

In San Diego there are a zillion different types of licenses, and not all breweries have the same type. So not all breweries can pour full pours.

It can even vary at different locations of the same brewery. For example, the Ballast Point location on Linda Vista Road can only pour samples, and you're not able to get more than one sample of the same beer. But at the Ballast Point on Old Grove, you can get pint after pint of whatever they're pouring.

That said, it's much more common for breweries to be able to pour full pours than for breweries to only be able to serve samples. Aside from the BP Linda Vista, Thorn Street is the only other local brewery I can think of that is only able to pour samples.

Best thing to do would be to check the websites or call those places you plan on visiting.

Most CA beer/alcohol laws are not a problem except the one RE : growler fills.

This isn't the backwards state of Utah.

meh i wouldnt even call places, seems like a lot of work since most of them can pour full pours. some choose not to, some cant, and some will only pour certain sizes based on rarity and or alcohol content. and i think its only BP home brew mart that allows you to only have one of each
