Beer & Pizza: What's your favorite?

    As cliche as it sounds, Peroni does really well with Italian. Never overbearing, accents only.

    If your pie happens to be from Chicago, any beer will work... just let the pizza take over. Seriousy though, I agree with the pils suggestion.

    A good Pils, APA, IPA, or Vienna does it for me. Depends on toppings, style of pizza, and my mood. I always have each style on hand.

    Agreement. Hoppy pils, APA, or IPA. You want something hoppy and spritzy to cut the spicy coating pizza sauce and somewhat oily toppings. I can't imagine anything better with a pepperoni pizza than the Celebration Ale Im drinking right now....

    Any IPA or pale Belgian will work, but bear in mind: it depends what's on the pizza - a meater pizza might pair with a heartier beer.

    But my contention is that Duvel, specifically, for example, will work with virtually any food - it's a real man's beer (no offense intended to the ladies). It is classy and rugged at the same time - burgers, pizza, steak, fries, or any food you'd pair with wine (*scoffs*) - Duvel will allow you to retain your BA dignity and compliment your dish nicely.

    Something pilsner or wheatish. I'd either say Prima Pils, Lagunitas Pilz, or My Antonia for the former or some Kellerweis or a Paulaner Hefe for the latter.

    You guys are doing it all wrong with the pils, pales, and ipas...seriously, try an amber/red with pizza.

    One of the only times I actually like Amber Ales, hoppy or not.

    Ya I am with everyone else here, anything not dark really will do, most lagers, pales, IPAs or light belgians go just fine. For me it is usually NG Moon Man with pizza.

    Mmm celebration.

    Personally, I think IPAs are kind of like toothpaste in that they make everything else taste a little funny. The darker the better for me with pizza, maybe a low ABV porter like Edmund Fitzgerald or a sweeter stout.

    I really love a big, aggressive IPA/DIPA with pizza. I mean absolutely love it. However, pizza does really well with tons of different beers and the toppings you choose make the difference.

    Part of the reason I love the IPA category is I love margherita pizza so the herbal quality of the IPA is awesome with the loads of basil.
