Note to self: If you see Empress Catherine in the liquor store - buy it.

I would rather you do 4packs of some. That way we can buy singles if need be.

I loved Cup a Joe and Mystery Stout -- my two favorite Short's beers. Interested to see what happens with this one.

Aroma at first is almost an apparent hop presence. Drinking it is silky smooth chocolate with a touch of roastiness. Almost like a smooth chocolate milk for the mouthfeel. Cold I get some hops (Cascade??) then as it warms it REALLY comes into it's own. Alcohol is completely hidden. All in all, exactly as it should. Well done Shorts!

I want the beer, Sean, but I'm out of state. Slow down the distro by a week.

Found the aroma and first flavors to a little dominated by hops so not quite my cup of tea yet but the depth of chocolate and roast underneath was quite delicious. Might have to throw this one in the basement for a few months and wait for the hops tone down a bit. I often find Founders RIS and Stone's RIS to be the same way for me when fresh so really cant complain as I love both of those with a little time on them. I would definitely say another very solid offering by Short's.

I agree with your review, and feel like I am enjoying this bottle more than I did when I first had it on draft last year! It's nice to see this style hit statewide distribution.

Typically Shorts arrives in the Livonia/Plymouth/Downriver area Wednesday or Thursday. I am so excited for this brew for some reason. Really looking forward to it.

Me too, waiting patiently in Plymouth. Hoping tomorrow is a big day. Bb Mayan, founders smoked porter, plead, and empress Catherine

We got Empress Catherine and BB Mayan in Farmington Hills today, so they should be hitting Plymouth tomorrow I would guess.

Was told the distributor is getting Founders Smoked Porter this Friday, so that should hit stores next week or the week after, depending on how long it takes them to figure out allocations/what day they deliver to your area.

No word for sure on Plead the 5th (or Double Crooked Tree) other than the distributor hasn't gotten it yet (at least as of Monday). So I'd say either next week or the week after for those as well.

Something to note as well, Founders and Dark Horse are distributed by Rave, while Short's and Odd Side are Imperial Beverage. Not 100% certain, but they typically don't deliver to the same area on the same days.

It reminds me a little of sublimely self righteous from stone. (And that's a good thing I love that beer) It's getting me pumped for some, "Unabashed power meeting absolute darkness"
