Yeah, my brother-in-law brought some of his own brews on a Disney cruise as well including a BCBS Rare.

I've cruised RC exclusively and found the beer selection to be poor. I had a Stella on my last cruise and that was the only beer I had the whole week. Whiskey is a little better with some selections like Blantons or some mid shelf Scotch. Overall, I wish they would offer more upscale stuff but guess if the clientele wanted it, they would carry it.

I'm think I'm going to try and put a few bottles interspersed with my clothes on my next cruise and see what happens.

No good beer on my cruise, so I took the one bottle Carnival allows you to take. I didn't want to risk my beer being confiscated. The security lady checked my bag and looked at my DFH Black & Blue as if she thought it was a bomb. I just drank Long Island Iced Teas the rest of the time.

So were you able to bring the bottle onto the cruise? Bc I will be going on a cruise in a couple of months and read that it was 1 bottle of wine/champagne per person.

Also, how thorough was the inspection (meaning did you have the bottle sitting out in your bag or was it wrapped up in your clothes/towels etc)?

A 750mL bottle of DFH Black & Blue looks almost eactly like a bottle of wine, some ship security person wouldn't know the difference unless they read the label closely.

I had it wrapped in bubble wrap in my carry-on. She just stared at it. Oddly. Was weird.

Ha yeah carry on what you can a bottle of good whisky, and any decent beer you may like to drink, not too much selection

This is exactly the great idea that should have opped in my head a month ago but I was too stupid to think of it then. My bro and his wife carried on wine and suddenly it popped in my head, why the hell didn't I bring some bombers of beer shaped like wine? Duh!

As to the question, I just got off Carnival last week, the beer selection was pretty dismal. Drank alot of Stella, had some of their Thirsty Frog Red, which I thought had a really tart aftertaste early in the cruise but by the end was pretty OK, and Newcastle, which I would have drank all the time but was only available in one bar on board.

Went on Royal Caribbean last year and the choices were somewhat better with Sierra Nevada, Spaten, and a few others.
