One of Ireland's most famous singer songwriters from Cork, Christy Moore.
A ditty about being hungover with loads of colloquial and local tidbits. It's pure Cork! Slainte!

 

Bubblegum and Beer by the Supersuckers. Hell, they are the greatest rock n roll band in the world.

 

MY god, what a great tune. Echoes of Donovan and a fine Caribbean influence.. He's like the Irish foil to Rhiannon Giddens and her attention to world music...

 

The best beer of all is the one you ain't paying for.

 

Plus there's "Smoky The Bar", "Hangover Tavern", & "On Tap, In The Can & In The Bottle", not to mention "Bubbles In My Beer" from the same artist.

 

Anyone else find themselves wanting to “like” all of these songs? LOL!

Do you know what album that is on? I just found the 7" on Discogs for $110!! Slightly too expensive.

 

This one fits lots of places especially predicting pastry stouts.

Cold Gold by Jackie Martling

 

A drinking song in Spanish that my rudimentary knowledge leaves the vocal mostly unintelligible (but not the spirit): “La Banda Esta Borracha” (“The Band Is Drunk”) by Freddy Fender's early garage rock band on Canciones De Mi Barrio / Arhoolie CD 366. This CD reminds me that all early Rock and Roll is given a new life when sung in a foreign language.

I remember a song our drill instructor would bellow out while torturing us on long road marches during basic training - indeed, I cannot get it out of my head. "Tiny bubbles in my beer make me happy..." Well, you get the picture. It was nerve-wracking.

Almost every Luke Bryan song is about beer but this one really strikes a chord every time I hear it...
