A couple friends and I are doing somewhat of a vertical tasting tonight in that we've got a bunch of Dogfish Head beers, and we're going to go from 60 Minute - 75 Minute - 90 Minute - 120 Minute. We have 5 people and 2 12 oz bottles of each, (1 bomber of the 75), so it'll come out to be 4-5 ounces of each beer, which is enough to get the flavor, but not too much. Most of us have had these beers individually, but this will be a good way to immediately compare and then move up DFH's IPA scale, so to speak.

Afterwards we have a handful of bombers we're going to open up and try as well. The plan is to do the IPA vertical, eat dinner, and then enjoy the bombers. That way we can take a break from the alcohol for a bit to fully enjoy the experience.

Do you have any general advice for doing such a thing, specifically what to use to cleanse the palate between each beer?

Sounds like fun; love the Dogfish Head IPA's. Just hosted a tasting a couple of weeks ago with a variety of beer styles. We had 6-8 guys at any given time and were tasting about 3-4 ounces at a time. I was concerned that would not be enough but it was plenty. I had plenty of snacks on hand; dark m&m's, peanuts, cheese, sausage, some saltine crackers and water. At the end of the day I think plain water may be the best for cleansing the palate; the saltines probably helped too. I think the key is to take it slow and really enjoy the beer. Have fun!
