(Boston, MA) BeerAdvocate is excited to announce its Belgian Beer Fest on June 22nd and 23rd, 2018. Held at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center of the Arts, the fest returns to the historic downtown venue where our events began 15 years ago for a more intimate and educational experience.

At the Cyclorama attendees will discover everything from authentic Belgian ales to inspired American interpretations and twists on historical styles. Over the course of three sessions, brewers will pour samples of beers ranging from classic Saisons to Trappist-brewed beers, Lambics to Witbiers, Belgian styles inspired by American brewers and American styles inspired by Belgian brewers.

"We're thrilled to be back at the Cyclorama, where attendees will get a unique chance to discover why we personally think Belgian beers represent some of the most tasty and imaginative styles on planet Earth," says Todd Alström, founder of BeerAdvocate.

To offer attendees the greatest amount of choice and variety, Belgian Beer Fest will be divided into two different experiences: Friday's Night of the Funk, and Saturday’s Day of Inspired Ales.

Night of the Funk (June 22nd, 6–9:30pm) will be an evening dedicated exclusively to sour and funky beers introduced to wild yeast, bacteria, and mixed cultures. Only 550 tickets will be sold at a date to be announced. More details and updates to follow.

Day of Inspired Ales (June 23rd) will feature over 100 Belgian styles and Belgian-inspired offerings from approximately 30 American and Belgian brewers across two sessions (12–3:30pm and 6–9:30pm). Tickets are $65 per session (plus fees) and include beer tastings, Govino drinkware, and a fest guide while supplies last. Food sold separately. Only 650 tickets are available for each session. Tickets are on sale now Eventbrite.

Join us for our nod to Belgian beer, its rich culture, and its deep influence on the brewing world.

Does this mean there is no fest planned for the early June ACBF/micro invitational slot?

Anything in the works for Maine in the fall? We went to the Belgian Fest in 2016, but unfortunately couldn't make Beer Meets Wood last year. It's a long drive for us from NS, so if there's nothing else planned for the fall then we will make every effort to head to Boston.

We have no plans to host in Portland, Maine this year, and the venue we were using is being demolished to make way for high-end living.

Yeah, I saw that the venue was being torn down, which is why I didn't know if there were going to be any events in Maine. Glad to see the Belgian Fest going again. Hopefully we can make it work!

Beer? No. But definitely that area of Portland. Anyway, we had two good years at 58 Fore Street in Portland. Looking forward to returning to 539 Tremont Street in Boston.

Too bad to hear about Portland, but glad to see there's one closer to home as well.

As for the two events: I know nothing is nailed down and it's very early, but if you were a betting man, would you wager that there would be a decent selection of sours at the Day of Inspired Ales?

I ask because the girlfriend loves sours and while I do too, I also like a lot of variety so I figured maybe the Day would be our best bet so that she gets her sours and I can get a wider variety.

...Might splurge and go to both..

Sours won't be the focus on Saturday, but based on our last Belgian Beer Fest I'd bet that we'll definitely have a decent number of them. It's hard to tell this far out, though.
    Many do.

This is exciting. The last time I went was when it fell around Halloween...I think 2008 maybe? Everyone was clawing to get at Allagash's stuff because we only really saw allagash white back then. I THINK it was the livery brewing maybe? Someone from the midwest and they had this beer that was inspired by cherries jubilee. By the time I had it I was..a little fuzzy...and I must have talked to the vendor/brewer for 5 minutes about how I could not believe how much it tasted like cherries jubilee.

The fact that it's back at cyclorama is really great, I gave up on the BA fest's when they moved to WTC...just way too crowded for me.

Update: Spiegelau is now a sponsor of Night of the Funk!

Night of the Funk attendees will get the rare opportunity to enjoy beers from the Spiegelau Barrel-Aged Beer Glass, the unique shape of which was developed through a series of design and tasting workshops in collaboration with master brewers from leading American craft breweries.

These modernized glasses allow the beer to release its full spectrum of flavors, and deliver them to nose and mouth. Night of the Funk glasses will be unbranded for use at the fest and beyond.

You’d probably have to get Heineken to spin them off as an independent brewery first.

This past Friday I dropped down to The Lost Abbey to pull some nails with Tomme and crew.

After a couple of rounds of tasting and discussing from over a dozen barrels, Barrel 3902 PX11 (Spontaneous Blonde Sour) was selected as the official fest beer. This single barrel will be served exclusively at Belgian Beer Fest on June 22nd & 23rd in Boston and supporting parties.

Buy your tickets now and join us for a taste!
