(Denver, CO – October 9, 2017) Three BeerAdvocate contributors and our very own associate editor were celebrated in Denver on Saturday, October 6 at the fifth annual North American Guild of Beer Writers awards. Robert Kidd placed second in the Beer and Travel Writing category for "Not (Just) for Tourists," Gail Ann Williams and Steve Shapiro won second prize in the Best National/International category for "Feral Ones," associate editor Rebecca Kirkman took silver in the Best Short Form Writing category for a news piece on zero IBU IPAs, and Brian Yaeger placed second in the Best Technical Writing category for "Savoring Acidity."

Debuting in 2013, the competition hosted by the North American Guild of Beer Writers (NAGBW), honors the best writing, blogging, and broadcasting about beer and brewing. Winners are announced each fall at The Great American Beer Festival in Denver. This year, members of the beer media submitted more than 220 entries in 11 different categories.

To date, articles published in BeerAdvocate have won 12 times at the NAGBW competition. In addition to Kidd, Yaeger, Williams, Shapiro, and Kirkman, past and present BA writers Drew Beechum, Ron Pattinson, Brian Spencer, Jeff Alworth, Stan Hieronymus, Austin L. Ray, and Joshua M. Bernstein also earned awards on Saturday. Congratulations to all of the winners.
