On behalf of the entire BeerAdvocate team, we hope you enjoy this milestone issue. And I'll allow this month's Beer Smack to speak, but I'd like to add that I'm damn proud of our staff and contributors for their awesome work and passion, and thankful to all of our subscribers, readers and advertisers for making what we do possible.

    One Hundred Mags (Rule)

Naysayers be damned! Since we announced the launch of BeerAdvocate magazine in June 2006, we've been told that "print is dead" and that it was likely to fail. Admittedly, the mag has been hit with some challenges over the years, but we met them head on, learned from them, and 100 issues later, we're still here. Check out any wall.

We couldn't have done it without your support, that inherent human need for things tactile, and the growing desire to pause and replenish the soul with a good read. You know, the kind of stuff that's more than 140 characters.

Speaking of you, the entire team took a step back recently, listened to your feedback, and worked hard to make some changes. Maybe you'll notice them as you flip through this issue:
    • Eight additional pages for more content, longer features and creative flexibility
    • New paper stock; thicker, more tactile, easier on the eyes
    • A fresh, modern design from cover to cover, with a larger font size to enhance readability
    • The debut of our column on food pairing
We also have some good news for all of you digital readers. We're on the verge of offering more options for Apple, Amazon, Google (Android) and Windows. Plus, if you haven't noticed, our back issue archiving project has begun. For updates and to follow our progress, visit: http://www.beeradvocate.com/mag/.

    Thanks for your continued support.

    Respect Beer.

    Look: Respectable
    Smell: Delicious ... dank ... never-ending funk
Taste: Bold and balanced with a flash of bitterness
Mouthfeel: Clean silky smooth ripped body with an edgy finish
    Overall: Worthy

    Negs:
    Inconsistent page numbering schema
Table (p. 23): 'Source' section - text unreadable (poor contrast )

We'll take this as a thumbs up overall.

Agreed on the gray text on pages 22 & 23. They looked darker on our digital proofs; easy fix. But what inconsistencies are you referring to with the page numbering?

    Thanks,

    Three thumbs up!

Upon closer examination ... it looks like any page with an ad doesn't get a page number.
This 'omission' caught my initial attention on pages 8, 10, and 12.
Oh no ... no ... no.
    Thank _you_!

    Three thumbs up?! Awesome.
Correct. The omission of page numbers on pages with bleeds (art or ads that extend to the edges of the page) is standard.

I just got moments ago Beer advocate issue #100. Wow. This has become a first rate high quality "table top" magazine. While the content has always been interesting and relevant for any of us on this forum, the magazine, itself, now looks worthy of anyone's office, den or living room table. Perhaps I'm being superficial here but, at least in my opinion, I love the way it looks. It now looks as good as the content inside. Congratulations. Great job.

A niggle or two if I may.
Infographic error: 'Top Reviewed Styles' has Imperial Stout at 44% instead of 4.4%
Pg. 20 - IMO reader shouldn't have to GOOGLEIT to decode 'FOMO.'

#99 was my first subscription issue and I was a bit disappointed in it. Don't see the need to rehash why.

I'm much more pleased with #100. I like the improved layout, heavier stock pages and found more interest in reading the articles. I don't know much about ad placement but the articles seemed to stand out amongst the ads; I remember the opposite was top of mind when I thumbed through #99

Keep up the approach and tact from #100 going forward!

    Cheers on reaching 100!
