Just a quick FYI ... Todd and I will be kicking off our DFH trip with a visit to Burley Oak on Monday January 13th around 5pm-ish. Any other places in the Berlin, MD area we should checkout?

Not really, there are some other brewery/brewpubs near Ocean City, but not worth it. Evolution about 30 minutes away is worth a visit if it's not on your schedule. I absolutely love Burley Oak, really good guys, GREAT beer and just an awesome time.

I love Burley Oak. I would echo what dhartogs said and make the drive to Evolution.

Definitely an AWESOME choice in Burley Oak ... we love this place & vibe ... been going there on a regular basis since it first opened and never mind making the two hour one-way trip from home ... Bryan is doing some GREAT things!

Burley Oak doesn't have food service but you can order carryout from several local establishments ... another choice is hitting the Globe https://globetheater.com/ right in Berlin for dinner (about 10 mins from Burley Oak) ... always have Burley Oak's beers on tap and a great menu ... its old theater.

Tall Tales Brewery http://www.talltalesbrew.com/ is in Parsonsburg, MD about 20 minutes/16 miles west on Route 50 from Burley Oak. Most of their beers are average but Red Headed Step Child is solid and its a great place (much better in the warmer months) with their brick fired ovens and outdoor patio.

Depending on if you are flying into BWI several ones on your route east to Berlin, Maryland would include:

DuClaws Brewing http://www.duclaw.com/ - location at BWI Airport & Arundel Mills Mall
    Realerevival Brewing http://www.yelp.com/biz/realerevival-brewing-cambridge
Fin City Brewing http://fincitybrewing.com/ - Ocean City, MD
Shorebilly Brewing Company https://www.facebook.com/ShorebillyBeer - Ocean City, MD

Might have to take a field trip on Monday to meet you guys ... never need an excuse for a Burley Oak Rude Boy or Sour Trip

Coming in from PHL ... Probably hit up Tall Tales Brewery for lunch and a brew then head over to Burley Oak. Unfortunately Globe Theater is closed on Mondays. Thanks for the tips.

Don't go to Tall Tales. They are awful. If you're going to be in that area you are better off going to 3rd Wave (no food), Evolution or Specific Gravity. Otherwise Pizza Tugos about 15 minutes towards OC from Burley Oak is a decent beer bar with solid prices.

I, too, was seriously underwhelmed by everything I tasted there. It was disappointing.

I'd recommend 16 Mile in Georgetown, DE. Only 20 minutes by car from Dogfish. Solid brewery with a focus on English-styles.

We visited Evolution and SG last time both were great. FWIW 3rd Wave and Tall Tales are pretty close for their beer review averages.

How long are you guys in DE for? I'll be headed there that Friday. I assume you'll be headed back to Henlopen City Oyster House, love that place, Chris is a great guy and I love his beer program, not to mention food.

Leaving DE on that Thursday to hit up Richmond, VA for a night then back home on Friday. One way or another we'll be visiting the Henlopen City Oyster House ... such a great place.

    Nice.
I got to try Post-Apocalyptic Porter last year and am overdue for a return visit myself. Enjoy!

Cheers to Burley Oak. Was actually googling local breweries while bored on my trip down to VA from PA. I saw that BO was just ahead of me and pulled in for a quick beer. The only bottle they were selling at the time was Summa Rye so I snatched a few of those up. This will be a regular stop from now on.

Burley Oak a very nice place and people. Being that I am not a DFH fan and takes vacations in Bethany Beach it is an easier drive than Evolution.

you guys hit it right. Burkey Oak and Henelopen City Oyster House are just fantastic places to visit. Chris at Henelopen really knows how to craft a draft list.
