The Celebration of Old-School, Small-Batch Brewing to Feature Hundreds of Beers, Ciders, Meads, Kombuchas and Sakes

(November 3, 2016) BeerAdvocate (BA) is proud to announce the return of its Microbrew Invitational at the Seaport World Trade Center on June 2–3, 2017 in Boston, Mass. "Last year's event was far more popular than we imagined. People were stoked to try all of the new brews that debuted exclusively at the fest," says Todd Alström, founder of BA. "The lineup of beer, cider, mead, kombucha and sake from over 70 small producers was one of our most diverse lineups yet. We’re excited to do it again and improve on this unique event," adds founder Jason Alström.

    Microbrewery?
Originating in the United Kingdom during the 1970s, the microbrewing attitude and movement was adopted by the US beer scene in the '80s and '90s as an alternative to the corporate breweries that had dominated the market for decades. Its definition has remained unchanged and uncompromised by interpretation.

    microbrewery [noun]
a brewery that produces less than 15,000 barrels (465,000 gallons) of beer per year.

Translation? Our Microbrew Invitational is all about supporting the little guys: breweries, cideries, and meaderies with talent and passion that might not even be on your radar yet.

    Mission and Approach
The BeerAdvocate Microbrew Invitational aims to bring awareness to the microbrewers who represent the diversity and soul of today’s beer scene. Each small producer that’s invited will make a beer, cider, mead, sake, or kombucha to premiere at the fest, guaranteeing attendees the first taste of dozens of new creations. Brewer attendance is required to ensure the highest level of representation and education. And, as always, BA pays for the beer.

    Tickets
Tickets go on sale Saturday, November 19 at noon EST for $55 per person and include all beer tastings and access to one of three sessions: June 2 (6–9:30 p.m.), June 3 (12–3:30 p.m. and 6–9:30 p.m.). Limited to 2,000 tickets per session. All attendees must be 21+ with a valid ID.

It's too early to list beers, but we've been actively updating the list of brewers for a while now:

IIRC he was there last year and they were a crowd favorite, especially for flying under the radar!
