Beers as good (or better) than Vanilla Rye

    Scraping out the seeds won't completely get rid of the vanilla flavor, but it won't maximize the beans either. Next time, split and scrape, and include it all.

    No need to scrape – just slice the bean open all along one side, to make it easier for the beer to come in contact with the stuff inside.

    If there's a Costco in your area, they usually have a very good price on high quality Madagascar vanilla beans. They come in stoppered test tubes, 3-4 beans to a tube. They're also available for a little more from Amazon.
