Dogfishead's World Wide Stout... I have still not had anything to this day that has had quite the same impact.

Pliny the Younger is a close second.

Summer of 1981, sitting with my my new father-in-law on his porch in France, he broke out a ceramic bottle of Belgian beer(I think it was St. Bernardus, but I can't be sure)that changed my life. That summer he introduced me to a wide variety of French and Belgian beers, a brother in law introduced me to great German lagers and I was pretty much screwed when we came back to the States.

soooo just had PtE....will blow your mind. Not many compare to it, I have to agree. I went into it thinking it was overhyped but it is in my top 2 DIPAS..deciding between it and Enjoy by 2.16.13 (tap) and Pliny was almost 3 months old.

Don't feel bad ... Duvel and Arrogant Bastard top my meager list. I have no doubt there's much better out there, but you'd have a hard time convincing me those two beers aren't good.

The first time I drank an ale always sticks out (Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Pale Ale) ... and the first time I tried Guiness. Stouts still shock me.
