I've never traded with anyone as of yet, and as far as I know that shit hasn't come to Illinois, but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough!

I keep trying to get Straight to Ale's "Eludium" but alas it escapes my grasp... "Yeah, we have a keg of it in the back, but we're just waiting for one of these other ones to blow first..." At least... that's what they say.

Alot until I started trading... now the world is mah oyster!

It also helps to find people who trade locally and are willing to bring a few of their goods to a bottle share. Everyone brings a few bottles to split (it's a requirement for entrance), so if you get 20 people... with 2-3 big bottles apiece (if not more), you can do some serious damage to your "wants" list.

That's not totally true. Brian Hunt has hand-bottled the odd bottle, which is how I've tried his beers without ever getting to California.

Surprised there are so many wants that IMO are fairly easy to trade for. Brews like PTE/3F/HT and all pretty easy to get.

Lots & lots but you never know. I don’t worry to much about it.
Don’t think I will get to try all of those special Cantillon one-off’s esp. Soleil de Minuit, Lost Abbey rare sours, PtY, Dave,…
I still have some hope for Framboos.

Fortunately, those are all, in the wide scope of things, easy to obtain. And if all else fails, just homebrew your own Heady, ZD, and Pliny.

Yeah I have a buddy helping me out on trying to obtain some of these. I know there out there just a matter of finding the right person.

I honestly think hill farmstead too...
Gotta ask everyone, do you really have to go to their brewery to buy stuff? is it distributed ANYWHERE?
Not as bad as the speedway coconut vanilla leprochaun in the woods (which may have only been on tap ) , but as far as regularly produced brews go, it's odd how exceptionally rare their whole line is.

life is funny and the future is hard to predict. that said, I have no plans to trade or travel for most of the beers from the Top 250 that are not available here in Upstate NY. Most of the top beers are IPAs/ DIPAs or Imperial Stouts. The Founders & Goose Island Imp. Stouts will all eventually be available at my Bottle Shop and I will buy them but I won't shed a tear if I miss the DIPAs. I don't dislike strong West Coast IPAs I just don't crave them or really even think about them. I would like to try the Westvleteren at some point as I really love Belgians but I don't stay up at night thinking about it.

There's a decent selection there, but holy hell that shit is overpriced. $5.50 for a single 12 oz. of Pearl Necklace Oyster Stout? Haaaaaaa

Yeah, some beers are decently priced - some are outrageous. But, free shipping on 6 or more beers, and that helps a lot. Shipping is usually very expensive
