    Hey guys,

are you aware of any website similar to Couchsurfing for Beer geeks, fans, homebrewers etc.? Imagine the scenario:

"I am a beer geek and homebrewer from California, and I want to go to Boston to discover all the nice beers and meet some homebrewers there and I am also on some budget so I do not want to sleep in hotels etc."

That site will help me find beer lovers like me, they will guide me through the best beer places there, show me their homebrewing equipment and we will talk about beer al the time. If they will be able to, they will offer me a couch or a mat or something like that.

Do you think such site exist and if not, will it be used and popular?

    Thanks for any tips!

I haven't heard of any. But it'd be awesome if one existed.

Don't people do that on BeerAdvocate already?

I think some people do ask people already on Ba, and I have met some great people on here in person. Ive also crashed at some peoples places.

I think if you made a group on CS people would probably find it, especially if you named it aptly.
Perhaps "Beer Advocate and Rate Beer couches" then anyone searching would find it.
Easier than setting up an entire site, then just make a post about it here.

    cheers

I second this suggestion. Sounds like CS would already be a good platform for this, maybe supplemented with networking/communication on BeerAdvocate.

All the danger of sleeping on a complete stranger's couch combined with the excitement of the potential psycho being drunk! What could possibly go wrong?

I've done it a couple of times (with great success) by posting threads in the regional forum with the headline, "ISO: Place to crash in Orlando. FT: box of beer from Oregon", or something like that. I'd much rather spend $50-100 in beer to give to my host than spend it on an overpriced hotel room, plus you meet fun people and discover fun bars that don't always show up in the BA places lists.

I'm a couch surfer moderator here in Denver, and plenty of people send me requests based on my interests in beer and work in a brewery
