Any Aussie BAs heading over this year?

I'm really keen, but not enough to go solo.

Ah, but this is only two days.

Just time enough to line the stomach.

I'll be there with a friend from 16 to 19 August. Volunteering for one session, attending two others and looking forward to plenty of time at Hashigo Zake and the Malthouse.

You should still try to get over for it. It'll be a blast, and there's plenty of good beery folk to cross paths with over a few days.

    Unreal.

Went to the Friday and Saturday night sessions. Friday night was freakishly packed - unverified estimates of $3,000 people, but it thinned out in the last hour.

Also went to a seminar by Richard Emerson (of Emerson's) which was quite entertaining and worth the extra cost.

    Top 5 beers were probably:
    - Hallertau Funkonnay
    - Liberty C!tra (particuarly the free pours!)
    - Feijoa lambic (forgotten who did it. Harringtons? gilks can help me out here
    - Garage Project Pernicious Weed
    - 8 Wired Bumaye.

Food was also a cut above what you normally get at a beer festival.

Plenty more good brews at Hashigo Zake and Little Beer Quarter.

Good to finally meet Mr barls in person, and to discover he's another ex-navy BA, along with joecast.

Very, very good time. Generally agree with spicelab on best beers being:

Hallertau Funkonnay (notes similar to Tilquin Gueuze but with some additional fruit notes that added interest)
    Liberty C!tra
    8wired Festivus 2012 (Feijoa Lambic)

I also really liked the Garage Project Ziggy's Carrot Cake (sprayed with orange oil to accentuate the fruitiness). Bumaye was good but I think that was more so due to the intensity than anything else. Mike's Coffee Vanilla Porter was excellent. Hallertau Barrique Fermented Saison was also very nice.

I was lucky enough to work the 8wired stand with Soren for one session which was great too. I don't think I've seen a beer as in demand as the Bumaye at the time we tapped it.

Yeah, sorry about that. We're everywhere

Sounds like it was a good event. Those NZers don't mess around when it comes to beer. Gives me another reason to visit someday.
