Get your hopes up?
Nope Huge snow storm going on right now in metro detroit and I would have to ride a Tom Tom to get to Bells if BN was available.
I would drive through this for Black Note.
I would load my car with mules and extra cases for traction.
Your TomTom will freeze before you reach Jackson!
Sheesh. Am I the only nerd here? It's Tauntaun.
(*I tried to put off correcting you guys as long as I could, but the Dark side of the Force was too strong.)
If you have a Tauntaun with TomTom, then you're all set, and visibility be damned, you can get there and back.
I had no clue what they were referencing until now. I thought it was some kind of a helicopter, and I didn't see how that was going to help
LOL..............the nerd is strong in this one
Never tell me the odds(or the correct spelling)!
Then I'll see you in hell!
(I also thought Tom Tom was a GPS reference...)
Larry Bell please forgive these last 9 pages..
Coming up on the two year mark!
i have heard serious rumors that it was scrapped..... creme stout didnt want to play nice in the barrel i guess..... but we are talking about Bn and BNSS.....so.... if im wrong forgive me
Yeah, I've thought this for a while now. Think it's pretty safe to say something went wrong. It was at Funvitational and several people I know said something was off.
Here is to hoping we see something in 2016!
Considering it's 2016 (and we're 16% of the way through 2016 already) maybe it's time to lock up the 2015 thread and put it out to pasture.
Did you hear anything more specific with regard to how it was "off"? Not doubting you, I'm just curious what specifically might have gone wrong (not that I can't come up with a few likely culprits on my own.)
Yeah, sorry.. definitely not trying to start rumors! I have no idea, as I didn't press the issue for specifics. It was more an in passing conversation at a bottle share after they got back from Funvitational which was almost 6 months ago now.
I guess my thought process being that it had been over a year since previous release to Funvitational and here we are approaching 2 years now with nothing.
Tons of breweries now deliver barrel aged offerings year after year... so it would seem to me that they skipped a year/batch for some reason or another... good or bad. I have no basis for this other than my own musings...
I have a hopeful, speculative theory that they skipped a year to devote barrel space to Saturn and a few smaller releases (like BB Cherry Stout) and that we should be on schedule for another release in the next few months.
In addition, last year was an especially busy year for Bell's: major changes at the Eccentric Cafe, standing up the canning program, putting on the Funvitational, marketing the Planets series, etc. Add in the other barrel releases they were working on, and it's not hard to imagine they wanted to take a break from BN for a bit.
I'll note that this theory is purely based on circumstantial evidence, and is more likely than not completely inaccurate.
I just heard the same thing Friday night. Third-hand 411 from a Bell's Wisconsin rep.
I thought it was pretty widely known that the ba cream stout was dumped but should be seeing some BA Expedition this year.
I was thinking this same thing last month!
Wonder if they used the barrels for BA 30th Anniv? I'd be totally ok with that
^^^^ I think I'd actually prefer it.
i have seen pics of barrels with all of the beers mentioned above from friends or bells themselves.. albeit some where a few months back. i have heard they are doing a ba 30th, not sure how they will distro, knowing bells probably tap only in house, and also heard the ba expo... but it is bells and they keep things so close to the vest that its hard to know. best bet is to follow their damn in house tap cam and see if something crazy gets tapped.
They just need to do straight BA Expo anyway and stop mixing in Double Cream. I do agree that the mouth feel gets a very nice bump from the cream, but that flavor in the straight BA Expedition is just phenomenal!
I heard rumors that it was scrapped as well. Other breweries would have said "F-it" and released it, but Bell's has high standards.
Bell's had BA Expedition at 2015 FoBAB. and possibly a late entry as there was no description in the program.
they are always playing with expo, they had 2 different versions a while back at the cafe... i think they are trying to find the right barrel and then they will do a big release.
it was very good. what other deviants have they done at the cafe? and/or can you elaborate on barrels they've used?
Oh they have tons of deviants at the cafe, just like on this site.
(I'm so, so sorry.)
Two James, Heaven Hill and TC Whiskey have all been on tap within the last 6 months.
^^^ what they all said.... i feel as if we are missing one but i cant think of it.
I believe the other barrel used was Four Roses.
yes!! you would be correct.

Added vanilla beans to some barrels ... more on this later.
Probably safe to assume this is Vanilla Black Note
Wow!! That's a small fortune in vanilla beans. Everyone go see your bank loan sources now.
Does anyone know if Bell's split those beans lengthwise? That's where all the yumyums are. I can't tell by looking at that picture if they are split or not.
