Not sure when this trip is happening, but DT is having KBS on tap on Wednesday:slight_smile:
I might try to hit it up early in the day, as I must work into the evening!

Moan and Dove is a solid choice, one of the best bars in Western MA.

IMHO, while the same owner as the Moan and Dove, I wasn't that impressed by anything the High Horse had to offer. At all (not going to go into details here as I don't want to derail the thread). Save your money for the Moan and Dove, or, go across the street and see if Russell's Liquors has a random gem sitting on the shelf still (hell, do that anyways). Then grab a slice of pizza at Antonio's. Something more exciting than the normal slice though please.

If you want a beer in Amherst, go across the street from The Hangar (lived off their boneless wings for years) and swing by Amherst Brewing Company. They have a respectable list of their own brews along with some really impressive guest taps (for a while a seemingly endless supply of Founders Breakfast Stout). Plus, always 2 beers on cask. All at considerably lower prices. Reason why ABC has been around for as long as it has, great beer and great atmosphere (though they did just relocate to this location, High Horse took over where the old brewpub was). Here is a link to AMC's profile page: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/225/?view=beers This all said, be prepared to deal with some college students if you go at night (but the same goes for any spot in Amherst).

I have read some reviews for High Horse and wasn't very impressed. As I realized from a recent Boston trip I am a early day/empty bar type of guy. We will be hitting Amherst just as the bars open. It appears ABC will be has worked their way in to the trip.

The new ABV now is absolutely massive. I swung by there early afternoon and felt like I had the whole place to myself. Also had one of the best flavour delivered beer (as in, it lived up to what it promised) there at ABC, a pistachio beer on cask. Was crazy. They also offer to go bottlings (growlers/22's). For bottles of beer, Russell's is surprisingly low on prices.

You know, you could just hop on Rt 9 and drive an extra hour and go to the Armsby Abbey (one of, if not the best beer bar in MA)? Then hop onto I-90. Then again, that'd be an hour or so out of your way to get to Worcester.

The Boston trip mentioned early included The Armsby Abbey. Don't have the time to include them. The plan is ABC, Moan and Dove, Sierra Grill, Dirty Truth, Moe's, Ye Olde Forge, and Hops and Vines. I probably won't be able to even do all of these but one thing for sure this is going to be an awesome trip!!!

BTW is there something between The Truth and Moe's that is worth stopping at?

Can't answer your question, but what was your thoughts on the abbey?

The Abbey was great!!! I had a Banh Mi sandwich that was AWESOME!!! I thought the place was very cool. I had a Cantillon Rose Di Gambrinus(sp?). Anytime I can get Cantillon I am pleased. We were there around 2pm which made for an empty bar, as noted before my favorite kind of place. I will always stop if in the area.

Liston's in worthington, a BMC bar but it's the highest bar in MA, and super seedy.

Worth noting the Armsby Abbey is doing their stoutfest April 14 if you can make it down for that.

There's not much between Noho and Pittsfield aside from Brewmaster's Tavern in Williamsburg. It's run by the Opa Opa people.
