Berliner Bash on the Bay - May 19th.

This is the official annoucement of the first ever Berliner Bash on the Bay. Which will be held on May 19th at Pegs Cantina in Gulfport, Florida. We are still hammering out the details but this event should start at 12 till all the beer blows. This thing should be off the chain with Pegs Cantina, Cigar City Brewing, 7th Sun Brewing, Wakefield Brewing, Funky Buddha, and Gravity Brew Bar all making Berliners for this event. Tickets will be sold on the 18th. These will be tickets for beer pours and we are talking about doing two different price points depending on the size of the pours. There will be more details to come in the following days from both Doug and I. So lets spread the word and try and make this event one to remember. Also if anybody has any requests for Berliner flavors that they would like to see post them up here as well.

Ok after talking with Doug he has decided that tickets will go on sale the day of the 19th at 8am. This will cut down on the bs of selling tickets on the net and having the ebay crowd come and screw it all up. Are there any other questions that you guys might have?

 

To add to it you can bet that I will have the Passion fruit/ Dragon fruit Berliner on tap as well 3-4 other goodies.

 

It would have to be a pretty decent amount, from early numbers there might up to 20 different Berliners going on tap that day. Plus Doug told me there will be other offerings on tap besides the Berliners but it is still a Berliner specific event.

We are currently anticipating quite a wide range of Berliners for this event however volumes of each will be low, extremely low in some cases. We will not attempt to tap all of the different varieties at once, but rather have a rotation going. I think we will pretty much stick to an order for tapping so you can follow along and make some kind of guess when things will be tapped. The limit will be based on quantity of the beer, some beers you will be able to get unlimited amounts (within reason) and others will be limited to one per person in hopes of more people getting to try it.
The details regarding cost are very much TBD, at this time we will not make it a ticketed event, anybody can walk up and get in however beer purchase will be by ticket only, much the way a certain other recent event was run. Currently under discussion are price and pour size, there will be plenty of notice so don’t panic. In order to hopefully avoid waiting in line for tickets (while others are getting beer already) and then waiting in line for beer we will sell tickets starting at 8, with the event opening at 12. Cash is way faster, people who plan ahead and bring cash will get through the lines faster. We do have an option for cards, it will be slow, please be patient or better yet, bring those green backs.
We are already planning for more space and more people than previously seen at Peg’s, all of that space will be outside, rain date will be the next day.
Peg’s is a small restaurant, and while a big part of what we do is provide great fresh food, we are not equipped to serve the expected turn out for this event. We will have some fairly quick items specially prepared for this event but also keep in mind there are a lot of great restaurants within 100 yards, and while Peg’s is always going to be the best place in the entire world, nay universe, please be aware that we are part of a great little community and if you are starving service might be faster down the street.
Bottle sharing - good. With Doug - even better! Seriously though, it’s not only allowed but encouraged, it’s part of celebrating craft beer, that’s what we are here for.
Sadly, there will not be growlers, we just don’t have enough beer.
We have some time before the event, we should be well prepared and as things get clearer there will be follow up announcements.

 

To keep this at the top, I believe we might be adding one additional brewery to the lineup. I will be confirming that this afternoon.

 

We just added Rapp brewing and Alligator brewpub to the event as well.
