Well, in the 1400 beers I have had this year, I have enjoyed the famous and the new. The bland and the wild. The darkest and the fizzy yellow. Thick elixir and watery.

a couple of different vintages and blends of Rodenbach Alexanders that made their way to Canada
Baladin Xyauyù Birra Da Divano Riserva Teo Musso

    Stone City Session Ale *
    Tree House Haze
    Sloop Galaxy Haze
Barrel culture Game Over (Apricot, Mango, Peach)
    Barncat Raspberry Juice *
    Tiliquin Quetche Ancien

Holy Hell...1400 beers is incredible! I managed to get about 340 in this year, and there were also a few that stood out:

Hill Farmstead Aaron may be the best I had all year. As a lover of barleywine (who isn't really?) this one topped the year for me.

I also had a few other gems, most of which were American...and also from Vermont. Lawson's Double Sunshine was a winner for me, as was HF Society and Solitude #5.

From California came Firestone Walker Sucaba, and Stone's Fyodor.

My top Canadian beer was Driftwood's Singularity.

Now I am nowhere Sammy's level, but I think I did manage to have a few good beverages in 2018. There might even be a few more before the new year.

I'm hoping 2019 will be as good, or even better than this year.

    Happy New Year!

Tried approx 270 new beers this year, not bad for living in Atlantic Canada. It’s slowed down over the years as I’ve gradually sampled everything the government monopoly puts on the shelf. So thanks to CanBIF for hooking me up with a lot of new brews.

More on topic, best beer for me in 2018 was Bourbon County....finding a Total Wine while in Florida was a relavation.

Top 5 new beers to me this year:

Cantillon Carignan at Witchstock. I think I had three pours. Just fantastic.

New Glarus Serendipity. Just made it Onto the list as I had it on New Year’s Eve. One of the best fruit beers I’ve had the pleasure of drinking. Amazing.

J Wakefield Miami Madness. The surprise beer from JW at Witchstock. Another amazing fruit sour. Loved it.

Cantillon Vigneronne. Another from Witchstock. Must go again next year. I had so many great pours there.

Tree House Super Typhoon. Best Tree House to date for me by a decent margin.

Tied for 5th is Suarez Palatine Pils. Best Pils I’ve ever had. I need more Suarez..

2018 was a great year for beer for me. I think counting pours at festivals and flights, I tried almost 400 new beers.

My favorite local for 2018 was Raspberry Jelly King from Bellwoods. My favorite beer from the Motley Cru release event too. Almost as god in the bottle.

2019 is already off to a good start with Bottle Logic/Great Notion Paisley Cave Complex in first place so far and Half Hours Alpha Orionis as top local.

    Cheers!!

A few on my honour roll: Side Project Balaton, Henniker King Misanthrope, Hill's Florence Puncheon, Schramm's Smile of Fortune..... Got lucky at a couple tastings stateside and was able to knock off a couple bigger Hill's and a few different bottlings of St Lam.

In terms of Canadian stuff I really dug the stout I had from Albion (don't remember which one it was but was very solid). Collective Arts IPA 5, and Badlands Distorted Re-ale-ity were regulars for me when they were available.
