NYC, Birreria @ Eataly and 508 both have excellent food.
To the east, Never had a bad meal at Southampton, either.
To the north, Peekskill's stepped up their game nicely, Newburgh has a small menu but it's solid, & Defiant for bbq.

Bullfrog Brewery in Williamsport is outstanding.
Selin's Grove Brewing Company is even better.

Revolution and Goose Clyborn. But my favorite brewery in chicagoland is Solemn Oath for sure. No food just great beer with the occasional food truck.

What defines area? That could be a broad geographic region depending on how it's interpreted. Within (5-10) miles of our house, I would say; Keystone Pub, Strange Brew, and Allentown Brewworks.
