Love some Peche Mortel and Twlight of the Idols especially draft
I must have missed it because I'm sure it has been mentioned in a six page thread on coffee beers, but just in case: Central Waters Brewhouse is phenomenal! I haven't seen it in bottles in over a year, but get it if you see it. O'so had a coffee version of their already fantastic Night Train porter at their tap house the last time I was there. Hopefully, they bottle it in the future as it was also phenomenal and used coffee from the same cafe that Central Waters uses for Brewhouse.
Also, for those who mentioned Great River Redband, have you tried Bent River Uncommon Stout across the river? Two awesome, albeit different from each other, coffee stouts representing the Quad Cities very well.
i don't know about commercial but the best coffee beer on the planet is BCBCS.
I had Peak Organic's Oak Aged Mocha Stout on tap last night. Generally I'm not too impressed by their beers, but this one was delicious. Not sure why it doesn't have better ratings.
Flying Dog Kujo. That stuff is fantastic!
NG coffee Stout
On tap would be killer.
Try Great Divide Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. It's absolutely fantastic
Fuel Cafe ended up being a drain pour of more than half the 6'r, and I like coffee, beer, and coffee beer. Just way too much like cold bad coffee for my taste - I prefer a more cappuccino or espresso take on the style...
Darkhorse Perkulator Doppelbock
GI BCBCS. CRAZY GOOD!
2012 Goose Island Bourbon county Coffee stout is one of the best I have had in a while
Noble Naughty Sauce on nitro. Creamy coffee caramel deliciousness
Dieu du Ciel's Péché mortel is one of the best coffee beers I've had recently.
3beans from sixpoint, restored my faith in the brand in a single sip.
FBS and BCBCS and new glarus coffee stout. BCBCS was the best by far
Founders breakfast and Terrapin Wake and Bake of course
Olde Hickory's The Bean
Fair enough. You would probably like Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout then.
A friend of mine and I were at Three Penny in VT in Dec 2012. The hop head friend of mine was drinking Lawsons Liquids Double Sunshine (draft), Hill Farmstead Double Galaxy(draft), and Heady Topper (can). I shared my Peche Mortel and he ordered one. Of course he later finished the others. Fresh Peche Mortel is awesome!
The Bean is based off their Stick Stout. I am not that impressed. Too me for the sytle I would much rather have an Oskar Blues Ten Fidy Smidy.
Bell's Java Stout - I second that motion. I skipped it last year, forgot how good it was!!!
Pipeworks Coffee Break Abduction.
Espresso oak aged yeti
Would love to have hit the Double Sunshine.
was skimming the forum to put that one on myself
Vietnamese and Kopi Speedway side by side last night at the release. Both are phenomenal!
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout
Brewed with then barrel aged steeped in Haitian coffee. I thought it was great.
BCBCS...hard to get, but shared a bottle at the Bodega in LaCrosse and bought another to bring home.
Recently had a breakfast stout at the founder's brewpub, and it was by far the best coffee beer I have had. This may change when I try my BCBCS.
Ballast Point Victory at Sea
Real ale Coffee Porter
Lagunita's Capuccino Stout
Founder's Breafast Stout
Kona Pipeline Porter
Wolaver's Alta Garcia Coffee Porter
THIS ^^^^^^^ Literally THE best coffee beer. End of story.
I find the coffee aspect of Pipeline Porter to be very, VERY subtle, compared to say....Wake n Bake, or Highland Thunderstruck Coffee Porter. With that being said, I still love all 3, and would take any of the 3 if given the option.
I have been on a Wake n Bake kick as of late. With it being so easily obtainable, it's great.
With focus on the coffee aspect and balance between coffee and beer:
1. De Struise Brouwers Black Damnation II: Mocha Bomb
2. Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel
3. Dieu du Ciel! Péché Mortel
4. Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast (vintage 2007 in 66 cl bottles)
5. Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout
Dieu du Ciel! gets massive bonus brownie awesome points for being so easily available and cheap to me (less than 4 bucks a bottle via a French webshop). BCBCS finishes last because I didn't get a whole lot of coffee in it, maybe the 2012 will surprise me. Mocha Bomb is quite simply perfection, there's nothing I can fault there.
No spot for FBS. The 2011 had faded in the coffee department and the 2012 was too thin for me.
RareR....my favorite beer of all time.
Came to post this. Recently had it for the first time and I really liked it. Also its fairly low ABV. Very drinkable.
