Struise Black Damnation II Mocha Bomb was pretty fine last week.
Just had a Wake n Bake from Terrapin... that stuff tastes like delicious, sweetened coffee sex.
Schlafly Coffee Stout.
had the Hill Farmstead Earl this weekend... wow. probably top 3 coffee beers i've ever had. Perfectly balanced with little sweetness and some great coffee bitterness but not too much.
2010 Espresso Oak Aged Yeti. Really good. Just got BCBS Coffee and GI Big John. Those two any good? Havent had either yet.
BCBS Coffee... I had it, was okay.
Just kidding. It's incredible.
The Big John I thought was fantastic, but is definitely a chocolate-type stout. No real coffee flavors.
I just finished a Big John tonight. Its definitely not a coffee beer. Label says its flavored with cocoa nibs.
We did a side by side of a number of coffee stouts and Goliat was the far and above favorite.
Another great one is Epic's Big Bad Baptist. It comes a little hot fresh, but let this one age and it'll be awesome.
Austin Beerworks Sputnik
I know this dude, and this beer.
Both are pretty damned good.
But if you can only find one, find the beer.
I can't top all of these awesome beers listed, but for $6 a bottle new Belgium's imperial coffee chocolate stout is great!
3Beans by SixPoint is amazing
I am really impressed with Rising Tide's Tempest coffee porter. Of course Founder's Breakfast Stout doesn't suck either!
1. Terrapin wake n bake
2. ballast point victory at sea
3. Founder Breakfast Stout
not in that order just top 3 that I enjoy. cheers!
My recent best is also the last one I have drank
DDC Peche Mortel.
Out of my top 3 beers of all-time, Victory At Sea AND Big Bad Baptist are on that list.
De Molen Kopi Loewak from early 2012. Coffe flavour was really fresh, that surprised me.
Sticking to the PNW theme there, Flyers Breakfast Stout is really underrated.
Santa Fe Imperial Java Stout. But for the true cold coffee in a glass experience, Schlafly does a good job.
agreed this is a great coffee beer and it's not that expensive. all around solid beer
wake-n-bake baby and an el diablo. (it's like Spanish for a fighting chicken)
It's very well made. The coffee flavor is vibrant and pretty pure- of course there's cocoa in there too, so the overall effect is like eating one of those chocolate-covered espresso beans. The protein boost from the roman beans fills out the body nicely, too, so that it isn't all caramelly and syrupy. Best thing I've had by Sixpoint, for sure.
Alesmith Speedway Stout. It tastes like a frappacino. They have so many varieties but I've only been able to get my hands on the original (if anyone has any other varieties I would love to trade). I also just bought 3beans by sixpoint but I'm waiting to try it.
FWIW- enjoy that one on the warm side. I popped my first one apparently too cold (maybe 50F), but it got much better as it warmed. The alcohol was too prominent at first.
thanks for the heads up, i have it in a wine (beer) fridge right now at like 52F so i'll let it sit a bit before i try.
Pipeworks Coffee Break Abduction blew me away. I've been hearing they're doing great things, but I thought it was incredible.
Wake n Bake, Victory At Sea, New Belgium Imperial Coffee Chocolate Stout (porter ?), Founders Breakfast Stout
Besides the Founders Breakfast Stouts in the fridge, I would have to say my Java Stout aka homebrew is awesome right now.
FBS, Wake-n-Bake, Pisgah Valdez ... great suggestions, but one economical and easy to find choice with a great coffee flavor: Kona Pipeline Porter.
Peruvian Morning. Nothing like coffee and bourbon!
Diablo as in Diablo sandwich and a Dr. Pepper? I second wake n bake, little more coffee flavor than fbs, cafe royale is darn tasty as well.
Surly Coffee Bender is fantastic
Also just had one of these and thought it a fantastic coffee beer.
I bought more! Rare for me being a ticker like ive been lately...
This beer on nitro tap is unreal! I'd drink it every morning if I could.
Honorable mention to Coffee Bender and I'll be trying coffee stout trooper next week so hopefully that is nice.
I haven't tried very many yet. I did Schlafly's Coffee Stout pretty tasty.
Goose Island Resolutions at Clybourn location. Pure coffee flavor.
One of the only beers I've ever had that I like on nitro. Generally I think nitro ruins beers, but this and Left Hand Milk Stout beg to differ. But yeah, BBC Coffeehouse Porter on nitro is in my god tier of beers.
