Best Damn Beer Shop experiences

No idea about their shipping, but when I lived in SD, it was one of the best beer stores in town and never had issues with old stock.

 

Highly recommended.

I heard they were good, but Craftcity are my go-to guys. (Who is also based out of San Diego oddly enough.)

Anyone know if their Nelson is Alpine Nelson or Green Flash Nelson?

 

All Nelson is now being brewed at green flash. Duet as well.

 

Man, I miss that place...One of the greatest bottle shops ever.

 

Still don't get how they have this huge disclaimer with various states they ship to. Shipping beer in general across state lines without liquor licenses is sketchy. They've probably found the few states that are more "strict" than others and are still trying to skirt the law with those that are "more open".

Even trading is questionable (and I do that).

I know it's just a big chain supermarket, but high praise to Raoul of C-Town Astoria. He drives into Manhattan with 4-packs of hard-to-get-stuff and drops them off at my place.

 

I just made my first online order and it was with them. All aspects were excellent. Order was correct, beer was fresh, pricing was reasonable, a Styrofoam wine shipper was used and shipping for 12 bottles to SC was $27. In my opinion, BDBS is world class.

 

I've been to the store in person great selection. I've also ordered from them via their online store and shipping was fast, stock all seemed fresh, I would highly recommend them. Only thing is you need to have someone available over 21 to sign for the shipment (they ship FedEx and big sticker requiring someone over 21 available at time of delivery at least in Michigan).

 

Have ordered around 6 times, always went well. Their shipping is cheaper than Craftshack & Craft Beer Kings as well (at least to WV).

Nothing but positive things to say. Tried them because craft city is overpriced. (Selling helldorado for 40+ bucks. Ridiculous.) ordered the Alpine stuff from them and the Nelson had leaked. I called them to inform them of the leak and the guy instantly refunded the money without me even asking and said it should still be fine and to enjoy it. My brother in law and I have made several orders and they've all been great!

 

I've visited their store a bunch of times while in SD and it's been great. Haven't experienced any old stock there. I think they get a large volume of customers so it seems like it's constantly turning over.

 

getting a shipment from them tomorrow..lot of stuff they have is out of stock..but the stuff they have will get to me in a week.

 

Recently ordered from BDBS and received the package yesterday. Package took a week to arrive from Fed Ex. Their website said packages may be delayed because of the attacks in Belgium, so on a normal day may be quicker??? When I opened the package, one of the beers was not included. However, before I could email them, they had already sent a refund with the explanation of why it was not sent. I would not hesitate to order from them again.

Sid is a pretty good honest guy. Used to go there every week when I worked downtown, but anytime I go to SD, I make it a point to stop there. The selection is incredible. I might now have to place an order since I moved!

 

Very cool...too bad I live on the OPPOSITE coast!...shipping seems a little high and thank god some of these beers are showing up in SC.

 

Every Place I've ordered from has that disclaimer, it sucks that no one in my house is home during the day, so I have to have the package sent to either a FedEx or UPS location (different shops use different carriers)

 

I didn't think Idaho allowed this, great to see.

My favorite store is closed...I miss the rows of Cantillion and JW Lees Harvest Ale. Those were the days.

 

That is the first reasonable shipping cost I have seen. I checked their prices briefly and the individual prices do not seem too inflated.

 

I've known Sid for four years and have never heard a single complaint. The store isn't huge, but is well-run.
