Here in Alabama we have places that do growler fills but, do to the Health department and the ABC board we have to fill in milk jugs plastic containers The jugs have to have caps that lock so the police department knows it is an open container if the seal is broke. All that aside what are the best places you have ever had a real Glass growler filled?

milk jugs? really? ya know i've oftern wondered if a growler could technically be considered an open container. I guess if you're stone cold sober and explain to the cop what it is, they could be a d**k about it.

Anyway, may favorite places for grolwers are my 2 local spots - Andy's Corner Bar in Bogota NJ and The Coppermine Pub in North Arlington NJ. Not so much becuase of their filling methods, but more for the seletion, care of the draft lines equiptment etc, and constantly rotating selection (tomorrow night is troegs tap takeover at andys. 10 troegs beers on including nugget nectar) yum!

Without a doubt, it's Party Town in Florence, KY. It's also my favorite bottle shop. They have 18 taps and they do a good job of keeping their current offerings posted on the website.

In addition to half-gallons, they also fill full gallons, quarts, and even pints (this is really nice when that $32 growler of Oak-Aged Samael or Barrel-Aged Siberan Night seems a bit steep).

DeCicco's in Brewster NY. Counter pressure fills, superior selection, and you can sit and sip all the beers available for fills in a beautiful bar section of a large grocery that also has 900 different beers on shelf to purchase. And two fantastic BA's to talk beer with who work there.

Bierkraft is solid too. Counter pressure filled, good selection of stuff you won't easily find elsewhere, good sandwiches...

Hop City in ATL. Real glass growlers, 64 or 32 oz. They clean, sanitize and fill. They know thier beers, and they have 60 taps, 20 are local.

None, this is illegal in CA which makes me sad. The only place I ever fill growlers anymore is at The Bruery. No bar or store fills.

The Birch in Nawfolk has the craziest selection of beer on tap(growler-fill or otherwise). Rare Italian, Scandinavian, Belgian, and German beers plus a few are always the Zymatore project barrel aged beers. I recently had the Hofstetten Kubelbier aged in gin barrels. Shit was crazy sour. My usual place, the Wine Seller in Williamsburg, has about 6 taps rotating often with great craft, i.e. Nugget Nectar- $15, Sculpin $20, alewerks Bitter Valentine $16(all 64oz. fills).

Those are insane prices! You can't go to Rock Bottom around Chicago and get a growler of their beer for that cheap.

Charleston Beer Exchange in Charleston, SC. They usually have about 10 beers on tap that rotate frequently (and are updated on their website) and have 32, 64, and 128 oz fills available. They also have "Rare Beer Tuesdays" when they tap a keg of limited release beer and have other perks to go along with it (eg. meet the brewer, free glassware, free tastings, etc.). Two weeks ago, the beer was Sexual Chocolate. On top of all that, the staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. A place you have to check out if you're in the area.
