I tend to use an old football stud/cleat tightener.

What else does everybody use apart from a traditional bottle opener?

Usually just any sharp-edged piece of furniture and the palm of my hand. Hotel room A/C units work beautifully.

Besides a regular bottle opener? In Germany I used a lot of things, but the one that sticks out in my head was a water bottle.

Besides that, I've used counter tops and anything metal that could wedge off a cap.

another unopened beer bottle is my most common method, if a proper opener isn't nearby

I have a gold wedding ring. There is no way I am opening a bottle with my ring. A titanium one, on the other hand...

I've got a tungsten in line for my ring (getting hitched Nov 3.
Have you had any issues with scratching or anything?
ETA: I should probably be more specific. Way too many jokes available for that one.
Have you had any issues with the beer cap scratching your ring at all? I still haven't gotten a definitive answer how strong they are and how scratch resistant.

It's a non-issue. I've had my ring for six years now and it's still looks as good as the day I bought it with a quick rub from a jewelry cloth.

I'm surprised there's anything left at all... I thought that stuff created a negative vortex in one's stomach that effectively caused all life everywhere to end.

Very sturdy and worked very cleanly. The metal is pretty thick, all of the sides have the controls or whatever and the back has two strong magnets. Well made all around.

I have used it three times now and it have not left a crease once. I got it at a cards and comics store in Ogden, UT, but I have seen it for sale on the 'net.

Remarkably, I have the exact same opener and it was a wedding gift iirc! I have never thought about how many bottles it has opened over the last 22 years but it is a big number! I have also hooked the tail through my belt loop or on my pocket. Here is a recent WBAYDN thread pic:

Gropener. Works like a charm and does not damage bottle caps at all. Worth the price.

Why? Because all of the other nifty light-weight duel cork screws go missing into the black abyss. This one has yet to go missing for more the two days.

My favorite has always been my Samuel Adams "Beer Lover's Choice" credit card opener because it fits in my wallet and I always have it with me and it was unique. Many people who witnessed me using it wanted one and asked me where I got it, but I had to inform them it was a freebie from Samuel Adams and not for sale. But today I found a similar opener with built in wrenches and it is much sturdier. I will retire my Samuel Adams opener as a collectable and carry this new one from now on. http://www.lowes.com/pd_501853-16878-63350_0__?productId=50086082
