I watch a lot of movies, mostly romantic comedies, and I find I want a different sort of beer when watching a flick vs eating dinner or sitting at a bar. Mostly I like to have a bigger stout, maybe a barleywine sometimes. Some sort of sipper really.

Like the other night I really enjoyed nursing a snifter of Old Rasputin while watching "The Ugly Truth" for about the 5th time (Katherine Heigl is the best!).

How about you? Do you find you enjoy a certain kind of beer during movies versus other times?

I believe a Lindemanns Framboise is the perfect companion to Katherine Heigl rom-coms

I could be wrong, of course, since I neither drink Lindemanns Framboise nor watch Katherine Heigl rom-coms

Yeah, I like to warm up with a nice mouth rapingly hoppy American barleywine before I throw on an old VHS copy of "Sleepless in Seattle" or "You've Got Mail". Then I typically follow that up with a Stone RIS while doing inventory of my Hello Kitty collection.

I like a big imperial stout I can sip on for the duration of the movie.

I think cyanide would be my drink of choice. Hopefully Indian Wells hasn't retired that.

I think it depends on who I'm watching a movie with. Sometimes I reach for a craft beer during a movie and people think I'm crazy or a drunk! I mean, would you dismiss a guy for his lack of enthusiasm of the awesomeness of craft beer during a movie? Or am I being a tard?

Well I brought 3 cans of Oskar Blues Dales Pale Ale to the last movie I went to the wife with. That made it much more enjoyable. Thank god for large purses.

    Cheers!

I agree that a big ABV stout is the way to go. Bourbon county if you're watching something manly. IDK what to suggest for the rom-coms

I mostly just pair beer with feelings. Since movies elicit so many feelings I just go with that. Barleywine if I'm feeling sad. Imperial stout for mad. Sours are for happy.

What should I drink next time I watch Salo, or Fat Girl?

I typically drink a big stout (i.e. WWS) because I can nurse it for 2 hours.

I think you're going to need something a lot stronger than beer for Salo. Maybe heroin for starters:slight_smile:

Paired a GD OA Yeti with Bergman's Hour of the Wolf the other night and that seemed to work pretty well.

You're not supposed to cry in your beer, so I don't drink when I'm watching the Notebook.
