So those of us in Chicago are blessed with many great local breweries. I'm familiar with most of the ones that have been open for four or five years or more, but I haven't had a chance to try many beers from the newer breweries. Pipeworks certainly gets great press. What are your favorite Chicago area beers that were introduced in the past several years? Thanks.

How have you managed to "not have the time?" in a period where the city has gone from under six breweries to over fifty?
Get a list of who is around and try them ALL.

I'm thinking about heading over to Scorched Earth this weekend. It's right by my place, I never knew it even existed until stumbling upon it searching on Google for Illinois-based breweries.

Half Acre Pony Pilsner is my favorite pils of all time. It's been around about 18 months, and I think some pass it over because it's "just a pilsner." But it's awesome. They also just canned Heyoka, which to my taste is the best IPA made in Chicago, very dry and piney.

Saw someone mentioned Une Annee earlier, I was blown away by their Quad when I had it for the first time. Bought another one shortly after that and it was just as good as I remembered.

Is Heyoka only available at the brewery or will it be distributed?

Kinda redundant but nevertheless, disorganized rant....

PW of course... DIPAs, stouts, creativity. Transparency. Ship it.
Only Child aint KIDding around, they've had some intriguing releases recently, need to try more though.
Une Anne's belgians are fantastic, and I really liked the RIS they put out last winter, hoping to see that again...
I need to go to Urban legends tasting room... Down for some Karl and Creeper. Super cool dudes at the fests.
Solemn Oath, stay open later... I work retail man, cmon. They dont make my favorite shit, but worth it esp if you like (overly?) clean finishing belgiany beers.
Spiteful, it impossible for me to try all of your damned releases cuz I have a hard enough time keeping up with PW. DeSpite that, I love everything I've tried. Oh man the selfies bottle art...
Drank a Vlad the Impaler from Hailstrom, and was impressed and looking forward to vamping some of their future brews!

They can it and sell it at Binny's and the like. I dunno if it makes it outside of the city, but it certainly makes it outside of Half Acre.

Totally agree. I tried it next to boulevards quad and boulevard got blown away by the local beer. Probably the best american made quad I've experienced.

    Maya is also absolutely fantastic.

Imperial Oak is doing great things out of the gate. Really digging their base beers, the saison esp.
