Lol @ this guy.
2. Whole Hog
I tend to enjoy pumpkin beers, but it's definitely not a style everyone will enjoy. The only ones that I really did not like were Shipyard Pumpkinhead and Millstream Great Pumpkin Imperial Stout (I know...not a pumpkin ale). I haven't had many beers from Shipyard, but I can't think of another Millstream beer that I have not liked. Really good brewery.
Good gourd by a margin for me.
Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine: there is nothing that even comes close. Sometimes a beer has a level of excellence that make all other attempts seem silly: this is one of those.
Southern Tier Pumking or DFH Punk
I generally dislike pumpkin anything, except pumpkin pie. I thought Pumpking was pretty good, and Rivertown's Pumpkin Ale was kinda cool (some different spices and whatnot).
Pumking, with a tie for second between DfH Punk and Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin
Just drove an hr round trip picked up weyerbacher def underrated great pumpkin beer
Selinsgrove Pumpkin on nitro pour is my favorite.
Just tried Kentucky pumpkin double barrel def not in my top 10
Selin's Grove Brewing Co. Pumpkin Ale in Selinsgrove, PA. super creamy and full on cinnamon on nitro.
I like dogfish punkin'. Mostly because I feel the base beer really shines.
ST Pumking and Schlafly Pumkin Ale
I have had a bunch at this point and here's my list:
1. Southern Tier Pumking
1. Southern Tier Warlock
1. Dogfish Head Punkin
I have 3 number ones because I can't decide between Pumking and Warlock and Punkin is just so everyday drinkable and refreshing for a pumpkin ale I had to put it amongst the top.
For my personal taste, Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine. It literally tasted like a piece of pumpkin pie with a glass of brandy after Thanksgiving dinner. I wish I had another bottle. It was on the sweeter side, but the booze helped to cut the sweetness. I highly recommend it.
Do they bottle or only growlers
Do they distribute
The two best I've ever had are from Sleeping Lady Brewery and Glacier Brewhouse in Anchorage, neither bottled nor distributed. These "Best Whatever" threads are stupid, there is no way to answer these questions. Just enjoy what you can get your hands on.
Before last week I would have said DFH Punkin and Schlafly Punk in but I had Lakefront 25th Anniversary Brandy BA Imperial Pumpkin and that beer is genre changing!
I was always say Dogfish Head Punkin - it just tastes so much more “natural” than a lot of other pumpkin beers that are spiced to the max.
Trying to figure this one out myself and decided to have fun with it. http://www.hail2theale.com/
Still have 10 pumpkin beers to go!
Only for people who don't travel. If u travel I'm more likely to stop at those brewery's who grt good reviews from customers.
Southern Tier Pumking (have not had Warlock, but I have heard its even better) and Spring House Braaaiins, then it becomes a toss up between too many to name.
they don't distribute, nor do they accept fills on the pumpkin!
are there many pumpkin beers made outside of the states? I'm not familiar... and I know that pumpkins originated in North America.
#1 Good Gourd (soon to be overtaken by GG almighty, perhaps)
.... HUGE gap...
#3 Crown Valley Pumpkin Smash
... big gap....
#4 Shipyard Smashed
#5 Elysian Dark O The Moon
#6 Weyerbacher Imperial
#7 Pumking (yep, not even top 5 worthy)
Almanac's Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine...by miles!
I'm drinking Almanac's tomorrow night so i might change my mind but i'd say Cascade Pumpkin Smash.
Lots of good guesses here, but the correct answer is Crown Valley Imperial Pumpkin Smash, by quite a large margin. It's like Warlock's cooler, smarter, more attractive cousin.
Honorable mention to Schlafly, Night Owl and Warlock.
Elysian The Great Pumpkin is my favorite of the soon to be ending pumpkin beer season.
So far I've tried about 10 different pumpkin beers this fall. I think Pumpking and Elysian's The Great Pumpkin are the two I liked best.
Tried crown valley excellent version one day get my hands on elysian
Heh, it's bad when Idaho guy is judging your state's cred.
