I was super excited to see it on the shelf today.

In case anyone else sees it I just opened the box and the best by dates are:

    Helles 9/27
    Pilsner 9/24
    Vienna 9/21
    Dunkel 9/23

Great on them for getting this out so fresh. Might have to grab the other one they had.

Y'all are getting me stoked for summer lagers. The trick is going to be keeping the fridge free of IPAs, which I end up drinking exclusively so they don't fade on me. So nobody put any IPAs in my fridge, okay?

Where did you pick these up at? I need this.

Completely agree. I am so tired of variety packs being mostly IPAs/hops. I miss the old Sam Adams variety packs with six different beers, usually there was a nice assortment of Lagers in them.

Ha ha I have the same problem so I had to stop buying IPAs for a minute.

Last I knew, Westy's had one left and Breski's had a couple. They must have just hit the area. Good luck hunting!

If you are near Doylestown, B&B Beverages always has Von Trapp on the shelf, including variety cases.
Agreed. Especially since these days most IPAs have similar citrus-fruit flavor profiles... the opposite of a "variety" pack.

I have almost entirely lagers in my fridge as of today. There are a few IPAs because my wife loves them as much if not more than I do but tonight I’ve had her drinking a couple lagers and she’s digging them..

I did see that. I’m going to have to see if other places around did as well. Can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the shout as well.

Do you happen to know what the date is on the box? In the bottom left corner there is a white box with a date in it, one side is blank but the other has the date. I ask because I did come across this but the date was sometime in May and seeing that the cans have the best buy date on them something told me this may have been the BB date also and the beer is old but I am not 100% sure.

You'll have to forgive the picture quality, it came immediately after a four mile run and immediately before a shower pilsner.

    On the box:

I am led to believe this is the packaged date, April 28, 2020.

I also believe this is the best by date of September 24, 2020.

Where did you find it? Were your dates different? I hadn't seen anything by Von Trapp in the greater Harrisburg area before a month ago, now there are lots of options.

Thank you! Yep that appears to be the package date and the cans have the BB date, interesting setup; and it looks like they have about a five month BB date.

I'm in the Philly area and used VT's unfriendly beer finder to see where it may be around me and did end up seeing it in a few of the spots mentioned. I skipped purchasing any for now but will soon. Prices were all over the place and made little sense, which is typical for most beers unfortunately.

Yes the dates were different and in the place where I saw the variety pack it had a package date of May, I believe around the 20th.

I did end up picking up the Von Trapp Brewing variety pack, my first review is here:

What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #2803

Can't wait to work my way through this pack! Packaged on 05/15/20 and for those curious here are the BB dates on the cans:

    Dunkel 10/06/20
    Vienna 09/30/20
    Helles 10/07/20
    Pilsner 10/11/20

Obviously not a Pilsner but this finally hit the area yesterday and it’s as the kids say

Surprisingly enough, Yuengling's Golden Pilsner is decent and excellent for tailgating or lawn mowing.

Oscar Blues Mama's Little Pils is pretty good too.

I dig the Yuengling Golden Pilsner, especially at the price. Haven't had the Yellow Pils in a while. Will have to revisit.

In my opinion that is the proper way to frame Golden Pilsner - a tasty beer at an economical price. A good beer for picnics and barbecue parties IMO.

    Cheers!

I should have just bought another mixed pack of the Von Trapp but I bought some New Fangeld El Patio Pilsner tonight. I'll find out how big a mistake I made Saturday.

North Coast Scrimshaw Pilsner is surprisingly good. Relatively easy to find in PA/NJ distribution. A little bit on the expensive side though. I paid around $22 for a 12 pack of 12 ounce cans.

I live within walking distance of New Fangled and I’ll make the drive to the Al’s or Evergrain instead of going there for beer lol. The tacos are tasty but the beer is very run of the mill imo
