Just wondering whats the best Sour Beer or Berliner Weisse you've had & found in the midwest? I am really starting to enjoy these styles & looking for new ones to try!

Bell's Oarsman. Not a true Berliner, but close enough for me. Year round, and almost always in my fridge. Justin Blaeber is available now. I'd pick it up if I was you.

My favorite so far has been Pour Decisions Verity for a Berliner.

New Glarus has both the Wild Sour and Berliner Weiss, and both are spectacular.

Have a bottle of Star of the North at home that I haven't tried yet, so can't comment on that. But...NG Wild Sour Ale is amazing in my eyes.

While it's not widely available, so will get little love on a board like this verity from pour decisions is damn good, easily the top of my list. I think I like star of the north a bit better than ng bw. Oarsman was pretty good but not something I would consider the best. Sour wild is in my fridge and waiting for a night to kick back and savor it.

Excited for this! Just went up to the brewery today and picked up a couple bottles. They seemed to have a bit left. So far Star of the North has been head and shoulders above any other Berliner I've tried (including NG).

Alright.. opened my Star Of the North today and I changed my vote. That is hands down the best sour/Berliner from the Midwest that I've had. Better than New Glarus Berliner and Wild Sour both for me.

Can you get it in Des Moines still? Have a friend in Ankeny right now.

Yes...Justin Blaeber is in the Des Moines area. $11.99 at the Pleasant Hill HyVee, which is 10-15 minutes from Ankeny.

Both New Glarus Wild Sour & Berliner Weiss. But both are rotationals/one-shots that will be hard to find in a month or two.

NG Wild Sour, Schell Star of the North, and I still think Pentagram is excellent.

Just on tap. Brewing a second batch of Gooseberry Gose, on Tuesday. Will let you all know when that will hit the tap.....although there is a chance of bottling this one as well.

Living on the border is tough.... I really want to try Surly Pentagram and wanted to try 5 but for over $20 a bottle it is hard to pull the trigger on that when NG releases there special beers in 4 packs for under $10.

They said they called two HyVees today and said they were out. Gave them the P Hill and Fleur locations.

Have they already left Des Moines? If not....I know there are bottles at Cyclone Liquors in Ames, which is on the way back to MN and just off I35. Same price. Was just there today as well and saw bottles on the shelf!

They already left, told them to go earlier in the week but they decided to wait until the last day.

NG Wild Sour is my favorite sour I've had to date. I love the mellow sour more than the super sour and New Glarus does them well.
