Hello everybody, hope you are all well.

This may seem like a silly question......however in a couple of weeks I will be going to a music festival held at a horse racecourse. As such the people who put the event on have asked that noone takes glass. Now I know chances are I could take a glass and be responsible enough not to break it......but......but....I would hate myself if I did smash a glass and the a stupendously expensive horse hurt itself on it in the future......

Therefore, I wonder, what else could I use? To me, plastic is a no no, as I find it makes all beer taste the same. I'm thinking of using an enamel camping mug, any thoughts on this

Thanks for reading, cheers for any help offered

    James

Well, if you can't take glass, and don't want to use plastic, then may as well just drink from the can. Or is the beer on tap? You didn't say. If so, then I guess an enameled mug would work.

You could look into getting a stainless steel vessel. There are ones that have screw tops, ones that look just like glasses, and ones that have pop-top lids. They can be pricey but they are very useful if you spend a lot of time outdoors.

Drink from the can. It'll be okay, you don't always need to pour the beer out.

First off, welcome to BA! Second, don't sweat the small stuff man! Enjoy it straight from the vessel it came in if there are no viable alternatives, and enjoy the music.

Or just buy the stainless steel cup that @WesMantooth just posted. Cheers!

Didn't know these existed. Not many beer glassware shapes get made in both glass and SS; I might have to get one just to try a blind side-by-side with the original.

Not a silly question at all. Depending on stealth or ostentatiousness requirements, and assuming no one at a horse race really cares, I vote for the stainless steel side of the classic Boston mixer drink shaker drink tool . You just might start something.

Thanks to the side holes, Converse can only hold a tiny amount of beer.

I have found a Yeti can keep a beer cold for hours. And a large thermo mug can hold two beers.

    Print this out>>>>>>

James (aka JimieC) hereby has one-time dispensation to drink beer from the can(s) (or any other non-glass vessel) while attending a music festival, owing to the restriction preventing concert attendees from bringing glass vessels. This one-time dispensation exempts him from ridicule by fellow attendees, family, friends, and BA members. James hereby agrees to resume using style-correct glassware following said concert. Furthermore, James also agrees to only drink craft beers now and in the future.

Oh hell, old school from either the can or bottle. You won't get cooties. A good bit of the time I prefer this anyway.

I had a drinking horn. But now that's gone and if nothing is available whatsoever I just drink out of the bottle or can.

Pretty sure metal transfers heat much quicker than glass. Not sure it would stay colder. Maybe drink it faster?

According to the laws of thermodynamics, yes if it is a pure metal. Stainless has different properties if I recall some of my phyisics classes correctly, but better pound them just in case

Some of those super thermos tumblers are made of aluminum or Stainless I suppose. They keep cold things cold all day in the heat, hot things hot when it's cold. They're $40 or so too not some $5 Wal Mart special.

Can't you drink directly from the can or do they frown on alcohol being visible? If not then roll with cans and don't worry about it. If they do frown on that roll with a insulated tumbler. Also maybe just use a huggie over the can, etc.
